After breastfeeding my twins and then losing 60 pounds this last summer my breasts had seen better days. I started my journey to find the right surgeon last September when did many consults in person and virtually. I was even willing to travel out of state for the right surgeon. I had joined a couple Facebook groups and came across Dr Kuhnen's name. I had never even heard her name before so I started to do some research. To be honest I couldn't find many reviews on her other than the couple in my group and no one had any photos of her results. I still took a chance and scheduled my consultation with her in January 2021. Dr Kuhnen is the sweetest, most professional surgeon. You can tell she truly cares about her patients and giving them the best results possible. On my initial consultation she sat with my husband and I for almost 2 hours answering any and all our questions, helping me chose the right implant and size for my desired look. She even ended up ordering multiple sizes so that she had different options to chose from during my surgery. One thing that stuck with me is she kept reassuring me that "she would not let me leave her OR with boobs that she wasn't comfortable walking around with herself." I walked out of my consultation with happy tears knowing I had finally found the right surgeon. I had my lift and augmentation on February 8. She ended up placing 385cc Natrelle Inspira Soft Touch full profile implants. I started out as a very deflated 34 DD. The suturing she did on me is absolutely flawless. I am a nurse as well who has been trained in facial sutures and I am so impressed with the work she did. I couldn't have done them any better on myself. I already love them and I can't wait to see the healing process continue! Pain wise, the afternoon and day 1 were by far the worst. I wasn't expecting the pain to be as bad as it was. Felt like my chest had been ran over by a semi. The tightness and just overall pain was intense. I ended up setting alarms on my phone and rotated muscle relaxers with pain pills until I felt some relief. Slept a lot and made sure to walk a around my house a bit every time it was time for a pill or I had to use the restroom. On day 2 I added in arnica and Bromelain. By the evening of day 2 I was feeling so much more relief. My husband even said he could tell I was walking more upright and not moving as slow. I just finished day 3 post op and it feels more like I have done a hard core chest work out. Pain is much more tolerable and I was able to cut down to Tylenol only by the end of day 3. I am noticing a lot more random stinging happening near my incisions that I am assuming are nerve endings healing. I will post an update after my week 1 appointment. Updated on 12 Feb 2021: Updated on 12 Feb 2021: Updated on 23 Feb 2021: Had my 2 week post op visit today. Sutures and steri-strips were removed and they look even better than I could have imagined! Still on lifting restrictions and no arms above head. I have been switching back and forth between my post op bra I was provided and a front zip sports bra. Pain is very minimal now and I forget sometimes about my restrictions because of it. I was cleared to sleep on my back but I do feel more comfortable sleeping on an incline still just because morning boob is REAL some mornings. Driving is still weird. Don’t like the feeling of the seatbelt across my chest and sometimes pulling on the steering wheel doesn’t feel the greatest. Not horrible but definitely noticeable. I uploaded my last pic with sutures from 2/22, one immediately post suture removal this morning and one comparing how far I have come the last two weeks. Trust the process and love, love, LOVING my results so far! I am beyond happy with my decision to do this. I know a lot of ladies get worried about spending the chunk of money on themselves. I get it. I did too, but I can tell you it is worth every dang penny spent times a million. Updated on 22 Mar 2021: Back for a little update... have reach 6 weeks post op today. I was cleared of all restrictions at 4 weeks post op and told I can start scar treatment. My scars weren’t bad to me before but I started silicone strips a couple days after my appointment. My scars have lightened up SO SO much to the point that my vertical scar is hard to see! I’ll attach some weekly progress photos of the last couple weeks. Right now I am measuring a 32H but still have a lot of dropping and fluffing to do. Stats: 5’8” 165 lbs 34DD pre-op Full anchor lift SSF 385 cc UTM Natrelle Soft Touch Full Profile
At 16 I was desperately waiting for my boobs to come in like all my friends. Sadly, it never happened for me and my small A cups, and since then I've been dreaming of the day I could get the girls I had always wanted. My mom and sister both had breast augmentations so now we call it the "family" surgery! I scheduled a consultation with several surgeons in Des Moines, Iowa, in August, 2020. Dr. Suzie Kuhnen was the most professional, prompt, caring and skilled surgeon out of all of the doctors I saw. She is also the only female plastic surgeon in the area and her recommendation came from a close girlfriend who had undergone a reduction from Dr. Kuhnen. I went in a total of 3 times before my surgery to get the right sizing and get all of my questions answered. The day of surgery, Dr. Kuhnen had ordered several sizes to "try on" in the OR. We talked about a range from 325-365 CCs but Dr. Kuhnen wasn't sure what would fit. She ended up going with 325 CCs on my left breast and 365 on my right to even them out. I'm right around 2 weeks post-op and am loving the results so far! I get my sutures out on the 26th and will learn how to massage my breasts during that appointment. I will continue to update as needed.
I’ve wanted a breast reduction since high school. Freshmen year I was a D cup and by end of senior year I was a G cup. My boobs just grew so fast that my posture could not keep up. I attempted physical therapy, chiropractics, and nothing helped. I finally decided to go to my doctor and ask for a referral to a plastic surgeon. Because of my 5 years of complaining and attempted physical therapy my insurance did approve it.
