I researched for 5 years prior to my surgery, checked many websites and had about 5 consults with different doctors. I was miserable but scared to do it. Someone told me to do while I was healthy because I was 54 years old and if I wait another year I may not be a candidate if other health issues came about. Well here I am almost 61 and in excellent health and happy I had it 6 years ago. I had minimal to no discomfort after my surgery. I had the lollipop incision. I highly recommend it to anyone thinking about it.
My problem was urinal leaking and having to wear heavy pads. I went to my OBGYN and she suggestion taking medication by mouth everyday, I did not want to take meds. When I heard about this new procedure, I immediately decided to try it. After my first treatment which just a bit uncomfortable during the procedure only, i did not see immediate results, toward the end of the month following the procedure, I noticed a very slight improvement in the leakage. Second procedure the following month, I noticed little more improvement. After 3 treatments which lasted around 15-20 minutes each in the office, I no longer need to wear a heavy pad for urinal leaking. Now I only need to use the daily pads for sanitation reasons only. I am so excited and feel liberated. Thank you Dr.Steven Katz Sincerely Rebecca Itzhaky
I have been getting facials for years now. I believe that you are never to young to start taking care of your skin. It is a must if you want to slow down the aging process. It's not like doing you nails. You need one every week. At least once a month depeding on you skin condition. It's worth every penny. Your face gets cleaned. You get a facial massage. You even learn to take care of your skin in between facials. Today I did the Hydrafacial. AWESOME!! No down time. As in, your face goes back to better than normal in minutes. Your skin is smoother. Like a baby's bottom. No joke. Totally recommend. No pain. Just Gain.
This is by far the best facial I have ever had! Microdermabrasion usually dries my skin out but this was like a wet/hydrating microderm! There was a light peel with the treatment and it really helped with the fine lines on my forehead that i was concerned with. I am still glowing from this and it was 2 weeks ago. This is the facial to get when you have an important event. kelly is so knowledgeable - I also got some vitamins for my skin and hair from her along with some amazing neocutis eye cream that I am obsessed with and moisturizer for my dry skin. Best facial in town hands down. :) Updated on 11 May 2014: Updated on 11 May 2014: Here are some clips of Kelly giving Julia a HydraFacial. This was Julia's first HyrdaFacial.
I've always been a little overweight with a pear shape. Although I carry most of my fat in my butt and thighs, I never had a truly flat stomach. I have had bad experiences with popular plastic surgeons on Long Island. One VERY popular PS charged me 16k for two breast augmentations which both resulted in triangle shaped ugly breasts. Another VERY popular PS on Long Island did an okay job, and charged me 21k for another breast augmentation and lipo. Again, I was left waiting for the body I had paid for... My 2010 surgery with popular PS #2 resulted in an okay result. He made my nipples smaller and although my breast shape was round and nice, my nipples were very LOW, scarred, large, and uneven. I hoped it wouldn't stay that way but.. it did. The lipo on my stomach was uneven too and I had a little bump left on my stomach. It wasn't what I expected, at all. Motivated by that surgery, I started working out doing Crossfix 5x a week. I was in the best shape of my life.. 5'7 and 130 lbs....but still didn't have a washboard stomach! Well.. after that I was pregnant and the pregnancy weight gain was nearly 100 lbs! I was left with sagging breasts that went from a 34D to a 38DD, nipples even more south, my tummy was saggy and that leftover lump from the lipo was still there. FINALLY! I decided to try a surgeon off the beaten path. This summer I met Dr. K at one of his open house events. A friend told me about him so I figured I would meet. Although he is a little quirky, I liked that he had answers for me and was very confident about giving me the body I wanted this whole time! I liked that he wasn't a sales man like the other PS's on LI. My mommy makeover cost me 1/3 the price I had been quoted at popular doctors in Garden City and Stonybrook. Although I wasn't looking for a deal, I was looking for a good surgeon who understood my needs and the price was just a bonus. In July, I had a full mommy makeover with a tummy tuck, liposuction, and my breast reduction. I went from a 38DD to a full C and my nipples were made small, finally! I look AMAZING and I am so happy with Dr. K and his staff Sandra and Kelly are so sweet. I never had to wait for an appointment. I never felt like I couldn't ask a million questions and Dr. K showed me I can have the body I wanted after all! I can't recommend him enough. That's the problem with plastic surgery. It's easy to find the business men but it's hard to find the hidden gems! After the surgery at Huntington Hospital, I went right home that night and felt quite well. Dr. K sent me flowers the next day and called me... the little things, you know? Thank you thank you! I will post photos soon.
It is hard to know from photos how much skin can be removed but your tummy muscles can be tightened which would flatten your tummy the incision can be located as low as you desire. Only a consult with your plastic surgeon will give you definite answers. Good luck! I am sure that you will get the look you desire.
After two children, your tummy muscles may be be stretched (this is called diastasis rectii). There is no way that I know of to correct rectus diastasis non surgically. However, it is very hard to tell from your photos but, you may have extra fat around your internal organs. This would cause a "bulging" tummy (and it can be genetic) which will hide sagging skin, stretch marks or stretched abdominal muscles. Tightening these abdominal muscles, which are relatively superficial, would not be very effective at giving you a flat tummy. Sometimes weight loss is helpful, but I would recommend that you consult with a plastic surgeon who will answer your questions and (hopefully) make the right recommendations.
Most tummy tuck operations are done for women after they have already had children. This is because they tend to have excess hanging skin, stretch marks and sometimes stretched abdominal muscles. A complete tummy tuck removes the extra stretched skin and tightens the abdominal muscles. Women who have not had children usually do not have these problems, even if they have lost large amounts of weight. But this does not mean they should not have a tummy tuck The problems that need to be taken care are more slight but the tummy recountouring results are still superb. There is no reason to not get pregnant and have children after a tummy tuck. It is not more risky. However, the stretched skin and muscles from pregnancy will make the tummy recontouring effects less noticeable and you may want to think about a tummy tuck once you are done having children.Hope this addresses your concerns!
Overall, this is a beautiful result- except for your belly button. Scar reduction treatments (ie. Newgel+) will improve the appearance of all your tummy scars including belly button scars but will not change the shape of the belly button. From the pictures you posted, it appears (in my opinion) that the belly button was not "inset" or positioned properly, or it may have slipped and is now no longer inset or properly positioned. It's possible that you may have an umbilical hernia. I don't know what your belly button looked like before your tummy tuck, but your plastic surgeon will know the answers to these questions and will also be able to recommend whether surgical revision might be indicated.I don't see pictures of your pubis and I don't know how the operation was done. The pubic swelling subsides very slowly if too much pubic soft tissue was removed. Your plastic surgeon will be able to address this issue as well.
In the first few days after a complete tummy tuck with tightening of abdominal muscles, you will feel, swollen, uncomfortable and you will need to remain slightly bent over at the hip. Any pain can be controlled with pain pills, muscle relaxants and, in some cases, in- dwelling pain pumps. An in-dwelling pain pump slowly infuses long acting local pain medicine where most of the operating was (in the lower incision area and around the tightened muscles) This helps reduce the pain and makes the patients a lot more comfortable in the first few days after the tummy tuck. All my patients are placed in an abdominal binder or similar compression garment. I keep my patients overnight at the hospital or surgery center. My patients are seen the day after surgery and they are usually discharged to home at that time. The follow up visits are at one week, two weeks, and every month for about six months. After the procedure I will place two drains inside the abdomen that come out through the skin. Some patients find these drains are the most uncomfortable part of the immediate post op period but these drains are removed once their fluid output is low (one to two weeks) and you can begin to shower. This is usually very helpful in making you more comfortable. After two weeks you should be walking nearly upright without too much discomfort. I usually advise, depending on the type of job they have, that they be prepared to take two weeks (or more) off of work. I recommend a compression garment and low level of activity for four to six weeks. During this interval all my patients are part of my scar reduction program to make your tummy tuck scars fade as much as possible. You may feel some tightness in your abdomen for several weeks but most of my patients are back to full activity(except sports) in about four weeks.Everyone recovers at a slightly different rate and my descriptions of the time it takes to recover from a tummy tuck are conservative. I am always available for my patients, either before or after their operation to ensure that your tummy tuck experience is as pleasurable as possible.
