1 year post-op - easy recovery, no pain medication needed

I have had several procedures done and this was, by far, the best. Dr. Chen is fantastic. Totally happy with the results. This is all he does and he has performed 25,000+ eyelid surgeries and knows what he is doing. Super easy recovery…looks worse than it feels. I actually needed no pain medication at all during recovery. Stitches removed after a week, then about another week for bruising to subside and I was all healed and looking great. I would recommend to Dr. Chen to anyone.

Heavy lids from inflammation caused by Hashimotos

Three years ago I went through a major life change after being diagnosed with Hashimotos. I experienced a lot of inflammation and it took a long time to balance my hormones. What was left were very heavy eyelids. I’m 44 and felt like I looked much older. I looked tired and not happy. So, after having a random biopsy at Dr.Chen’s office (turned out to be a small harmless cyst) I spoke to him about my lids and we set the date for my blepharoplasty. I had it done on Friday 1/3/2020, today is Sunday. I took a Valium 30 minutes prior, Dr. Chen administered local and I had no issues during the procedure. I have not even taken a Tylenol after, only arnica. No real pain - I was a little uncomfortable on day one but it was very minor. I’ve been taking it very easy, knitting on the couch and drinking tons of water. Dr Chen and Rhonda are absolutely the sweetest people I’ve ever met, he is real and open and very easy to talk to and Rhonda is a total nurturer. So glad that tiny cyst led me to them! Updated on 6 Jan 2020: Quite a bit of bruising and some swelling below my eyes, stitches are itchy, but I still feel great. Surprisingly I’m sleeping very well at night, but can’t seem to fall asleep for any kind of nap during the day, which is when swelling seems to be at its worst. Can’t wait to get my stitches out Friday and get out of the house. Updated on 7 Jan 2020: Bruising and under eye swelling seems to be about the same, but swelling around stitches and upper eye is definitely better. No pain at all, and as long as I keep antibiotic gel on the stitches aren’t too itchy. Dry eyes as evening progresses but I’m sleeping fine. Updated on 8 Jan 2020: Still more swollen on my left side. I have a little concealer on today because someone is stopping by but there’s no hiding these stitches. Cannot wait until Friday. Absolutely no pain, just itchy but if I rub my eyebrows a little it subsided. Still icing that left side which has helped quite a bit. Updated on 10 Jan 2020: BEST THING EVER. Dr, Chen and his entire staff are simply ahhmazing. Audrey, girl, you rock. You all do. Ok- one week post, got my stitches out today and for the first time in my life I feel PRETTY. I can’t stop smiling. Even my eyes (especially my eyes) are smiling. If you are in the Phoenix area and want to have this done, I would highly recommend Dr. Chen. Pre-op, op, post-op- all absolutely 10+ - thank you thank you thank you. Still a little swelling but this has been such an easy painless experience. Updated on 25 Jan 2020: Best decision ever. Had I known it was so simple, inexpensive and minimal downtime I would have done long ago.
