I have been on the weight roller coaster since early onset menopause at age 40. I finally hit my goal weight in 2015 then managed to break both feet at same time in a freak accident. It took a year and a half to fully recover only to drop a chair on my right foot and break one again. Through all the bone healing the weight climbed back to the highest it ever had been. Although I've managed to drop some of the weight I noticed the fat under my chin wasn't budging so I decided it was time for Kybella. I had the consult in February 2017 and began my research. Many of the posts here were super helpful so now it's my turn to share my Kybella journey. Today was the day! My first Kybella treatment. It was less painful than I anticipated and it took about 10 minutes start to finish. I had one vial (20 injections). About a half hour after the procedure I could feel the 'pressure' of the produce under my chin. Not bad but noticeable. I came home and took a nap thinking a little rest would be good. It's been 6 hours since the procedure. I have some swelling and almost just a tiny little bruise. I will keep posting my progress. I'm pleased up to this point - not painful, no real bruising, mild swelling. Updated on 24 Aug 2017: I have minor swelling a little bruising and almost no pain. This has been a super easy process and I credit Dr. Flax for his skilled administration of Kybella. After reading so many reviews I was apprehensive but I'm here to say do your research and only let an experienced professional administer the injections. Updated on 26 Aug 2017: Th swelling has gone down considerably, from the side view it's almost pre-procedure. The bruising is more visible but there is almost no pain whatsoever. I'm extremely pleased so far. Updated on 5 Sep 2017: The bruising is long gone and the swelling isn't noticeable to anyone except my ruler. :-). There is a little 'tightness' under my chin when I tilt my head back but I suspect this is all a part of the Kybella working the fat out of the area. I'm looking forward to my second treatment in early October. Updated on 4 Oct 2017: It has been six weeks since the first treatment. The first time I had that ‘just-been-to-the-dentist-Novocain-tingle’ right away and it lasted 5 weeks. Not painful just ‘odd’. With the second treatment I don’t have any of that! I’m noticeably and expectantly swollen but no tingle feeling. Dr. Flax once again did a great job and I’m looking forward to sharing the progress.
