Bellafill DOES contain bovine collagen and the FDA requires skin testing with bovine collagen at least 28 days before Bellafill injections- to look for immediate and delayed skin reactions. I would definitely recommend that your sister avoid Bellafill injections if she is truly allergic to bovine collagen. If she is unsure, I would recommend that she get skin tested. Bellafill does a BEAUTIFUL job of correcting acne scars; 2 sessions 4 weeks apart usually give the best outcomes.
I routinely evaluate and subsequently perform more filer injections for patients who have previously had filler. Six weeks is the minimum amount of time I like to perform subsequent treatment- clinically we see new collagen formation up to 8 weeks after a Sculptra treatment. Scultptra is one of my favorite fillers to inject- it is smooth, easy to inject, can go almost anywhere and is long acting. It improves the quality and texture of your skin as an added bonus!
Botox is injected by the doctor. Botox is not sampled. Botox can be injected in one area, i.e between the eyebrows and the total effect is not seen for up to two weeks. I routinely ask my new patients to come in for a quick look two weeks later to make sure all the injected muscles in the area are adequately paralyzed. Facial lines and furrows will eventually smoothen with continued treatment to keep the underlying muscles from moving. That translates into getting Botox treatments in that area every 3- 4 months for the first year and about every 4-6 months thereafter. I have never seen an allergy to Botox in all of my years as a doctor. Botox is a quick, easy, virtually painless procedure done in the office with gradual, natural looking results- making patients look more well rested and less worried!
