5 days post mastopexy and implant exchange review. With the amazing Simon Smith (both times) May 2017 - Under muscle 550cc Harley Medical Group To April 2024 - Under muscle 725cc Springfield Hospital Uplift with donut scars (he is amazing!) Recovery has been incredible. Was down in OR at 0930, out in recovery by 1230, my room by 1330 starving hungry inhaling the most amazing tasting sandwich.. home by 1700h. I had Niven as my anaesthetist this time (Hywell in 2017) who was so lovely, and the most amazing cocktail of drugs. The hospital was wonderful, and even better than the previous. The nurses were funny, kind and caring, and I met Sheena who was also wonderful. Not felt any pain at all, kept topped up on ibuprofen and paracetamol for day 2&3, just forgot how annoying post op anaesthetic bloat is..! Day 1 post op (Friday) had a shower and felt amazing, managed to get a proper look at them and removed the gauze, keeping the bra and binder on for 3 days, but felt even better once that was off. I can feel my nipples, and the lower breast area where the other scars are. There is the most minimal bruising, and obviously under the waterproof dressings there is some marker and blood hence the colour in the photos. I am so so so happy, and really glad Simon was able to go bigger and change the huge gap I had in the middle. I had my last BA in 2017 weighing around 12/13 stone, I then had a 360 body lift & arm lift in 2020, and I’ve got down to 9st2lb so my ribcage was prominent with a huge gap between. Now the pockets have been brought in they are even better. Can’t wait till they fluff!!! ???? #teamsimon
After breast feeding two children my boobs had become a little deflated with slight sagging. I thought i would share my experience as i found this site extremely helpful with sizing and what to expect. I decided to go with Mr. Smith as he was recommended to me, and I'm so glad I did. What an amazing surgeon that makes you feel comfortable at once and happy for me to ask a million questions.I ended up with Sebbin 270cc as I wanted a really natural look and just to fill my boobs out. I was probably a size 34b deflated prior to my op. Updated on 29 Nov 2020: These are my before pics Updated on 29 Nov 2020:
I had my first consultation with Simon and I immediately felt so comfortable and happy as he listened to exactly what i wanted and not what I needed. I initially had been told by previous surgeons and also Simon that I needed an uplift but he listened to me and I didn’t want that to begin with so we went through all alternatives and we went for 350cc mentor implant and I couldn’t be happier! My boobs sit very natural and Simon warned me of all the things that I may not like about my boobs so the fact they’ll have a slight ripple at the front from excess skin. Again, I was aware of this and still wanted it anyway. And we were both extremely happy with the results I’m not 3 months down the line and I love them! I have sooooo much more confidence. One thing I really thought was amazing about Simon was that he didn’t book me in straight away he wanted me to walk in and say exactly what I wanted. Rather then ‘I don’t know.’ And we could have as many of these consultations as we wanted, I was only ever charged once to begin with. Amazing. Big thank you to Simon! You’re a miracle worker I never thought I’d be able to love my boobs ever again without all of that scarring you made my perfect image of boobs for myself come true thank you so much and highly highly recommend !!!!
Faultless experience. Very pleased with the results. Highly professional, informed process throughout. I met Mr Smith a few years ago when enquiring about replacing my implants. I would highly recommend this provider.
Brilliant - Simon helped me with what was a traumatic time, an amazing surgeon and I'm really happy with the end results. The aftercare has also been extremely good and I always feel like Simon listens and cares.
Mr Smith is a phenomenal surgeon and genuinely the kindest, most supportive and compassionate medical professional I have ever had the privilege of working with (and trust me when I say have been under the care of a lot of medical professionals!) He is without doubt, an expert in his field. His approach to his patients is always professional, courteous and empathetic and one of his many strengths is that he always treats his patients as individuals - a highly valued skill in my book. He listens very carefully to his patients concerns and is always approachable with any questions or queries. I would have ABSOLUTELY NO HESITATION in recommending Simon and I am eternally grateful to him for literally saving my life and for first class bi-lateral reconstructive surgery. #thegreatestsurgeon
I can highly recommend Simon Smith. I underwent a double mastectomy and had implants after the main surgery. For such a large operation the results are amazing. Simon was very supportive during a time when I had to make some difficult decisions, his honest, caring and non judgmental approach made this experience a lot less painful than it could have been. I never doubted I had made the best choice of procedure or surgeon. With any procedure there are always options and Simon's knowledge and confidence helped me make the best choices for me.
Great communication and excellent care. The whole process was explained thoroughly and clearly in a friendly and professional manner, and I felt that nothing was too much trouble. Simon advised me on the various options available to me and guided me with his knowledge and experience. I'm very happy with the results of my surgery and would definitely recommend Simon Smith.
Wonderful experience, you feel comfortable from the start and the results I got were exactly what I asked for and wanted. It’s such a life changing decision you want to get it 100% right. Super happy with the process and the results.
Mr S Smith carried out a breast procedure on me in February 2018 and I cannot rate him highly enough. From the very first time I met him, he was totally honest and realistic with his advice. He took the time to explain the pros and cons of various options whilst listening to my needs, worries and concerns, without rushing me into anything. In fact it was the total opposite and one year on from our initial consultation I was in the right place to go ahead with the operation. As a very knowledgeable consultant surgeon I felt that I was in safe hands and trusted his judgment that the result would be an improvement. Following the operation I have been back to see Mr Smith on several occasions, where he has again taken the time to answer my questions and check that everything is fine. It has taken me time to recover and adjust to the outcome, but I can honestly say I wish I had done it sooner and could not have asked for a better surgeon to look after me. I would highly recommended Simon and would happily see him again for any future surgery I may need. Thanking you for you help / support and true professionalism at all times. The medical world is lucky to have you!
Assuming all goes well, July is a reasonable time to expect to be flying long haul. Surgery outcomes are unpredictable, and if you had a significant wound complication you might end up needing prolonged dressings etc which could interfere with your travel plans. Talk to your breast surgon about what their specific advice toyou would be. From an Essex Breast Surgeon!
You have no need to worry. I know of nobody who has needed transfusion after augmentation. A skilled surgeon should dissect the pocket to put the implant in using one swab at most, so a few mls of blood at tops. Even in the rare event of a postoperative haematoma, you really only lose a few hundred ml - not enough for you to become haemodynamcally compromised or to need transfusing.
I have done quite a number of breast reductions by liposuction - often in older ladies, and several times post radiotherapy in cancer patients who have had lumpectomy and radiotherapy (in whom traditional reduction is risky as the incisions often do not heal well). Also in re-do reductions. I always warn ladies that, whilst you can take away fat with liposuction, you dont affect the skin, so the droop (ptosis) of the breast may be unaffected; I warn ladies that they might need a delayed mastopexy. But, in fact, noone ever has! Taking some weight off the breast means it naturally lifts to some degree. It clearly doesn't give you a high tight breast - you need a full reduction with scars etc. But, as long as you know what to expect, the outcome can satisfy the needs of many patients looking for a reduction in breast weight, improvement in back pain, and no significant scarring; the breasts wont lift hugely, but in the right patient, it can be a very effective treatment.
Minor wound problems are not unusual following breast reduction, especially in the vertical scar, or at the T junction. This is the area where the greatest tension occurs in a reduction, and the skin / tissue is the greatest distance from the blood supply (which comes in down the inner and outer parts of the breast. Looking at your photos, the wound is gaping a bit. It will heal in the end, but that will be fastest witht he right dressings (sometimes a 'negative pressure dressing like a PICO can help). It is certainly worth your PS taking a look - but be patient, as it will heal in the end.
Fibroadenomas should be shelled out of the breast without taking any normal breast tissue. They compress breast tissue, not invade it, so when they come out, the breast tissue always (nearly) goes back to normal. I have taken out 12cm fibroadenomas and the breast has gone back to a normal size after, within days. If you want implants as a cosmetic enhancement, do that on another occasion - I wouldn't combine the two as when you put implants in, do as little as possible, to reduce infection risk.
