Got fillers for the first time yesterday for my eye bags. Did a lot of research on this and Blepharoplasty procedures prior. Decided to go with the less permanent filler option first and see what results I would get. Liked the idea of little or no downtime. Was also freaked out that each surgeon I consulted with had a different opinion on how the surgery should be done. I have had eye bags for quite some time, protruding fat pads as well as loss of volume on my cheek bones. Has been driving me nuts for awhile, I always looked tired no matter how well rested I was. Tried everything else topical, and dietary. Realized it wasn’t going to get any better. Consulted with Dr. Desai and staff, felt at ease with her and she was confident fillers would give me a much improved result. Suggested 1 syringe would do the trick. Went yesterday for the fillers. She explained beforehand exactly where she would be placing it, and why. Also discussed how it would feel, any potential complications, and what to expect afterward. THE PROCEDURE ITSELF- Not as bad as I was expecting! Did not get any numbing cream prior, but there is numbing agent within the filler syringe, so as she went along it got more comfortable. Injection just felt like a pinch, similar to Botox. Did feel some pressure as the filler was slowly injected in. At no point did I cringe or need her to stop. Honestly worst part was the sound the injection made, and the feeling of the outer corner of my eyelids feeling numb. That was weird... She spent more time on the right eye, as I had more hollowing present. She was concerned about some hollowing that was still present in the tear trough but wasn’t sure if it was looking worse bc the injection sites were starting to swell, and she didn’t want to overfill. She suggested that I wait for 2 weeks for the swelling to go down, then we reassess that eye and determine if we need to add more. I would rather do that than be overfilled and have a bulge under my eye. As the numbing agent wore off it still didn’t feel too bad, just sore and tight under the eye, or like a had bad sinus pressure (which I am used to). Started using Arnica tablets and gel the day before, and have been applying 2x a day just to be safe. Applied some ice when I got home and before bed for comfort. DAY 2- swelling is apparent but not crazy. So far no bruising! Not sure if she just did a great job avoiding vessels or the arnica really helped that much. Right eye is more swollen since I had more injections on that side. So curious to see the final result after swelling has gone down to see if I had enough filler. She is thinking I will likely need more, and in the future may need 2 syringes. Will post updates as things change.... Updated on 17 May 2019: So far still very happy I did this. Now that swelling is gone I can see for sure I may like more, especially on the right where there is more hollowness. One concern I have a a sort of puffiness/ skin texture at the injection sites on right eye. My friend said she had something similar and it eventually resolved. I hope that is the case. Area shown in picture with arrow. Hard to get a good pic of it. Will update aim at 2 weeks Updated on 17 May 2019: Updated on 24 Jun 2019: After giving it some time to settle and heal, and get past allergy season, I determined I needed more filler to even things out. Went in and Dr added another 1/2 syringe. More to left eye hollow and more on the right to smooth things out. Asked about skin texture under right eye. That texture was always here just now made more prominent by the filler. Determined the pores may also be slightly clogged, adding to the bumps. Recommended a serum with a gentle exfoliant in it. Had note needle pricks than last time, can already see I may have more bruising this time. Pain again was very minimal. Will post nite pics as progress comes.
