QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Tooth filing, gum contouring, bonding? I feel like my teeth are higher on one side. (photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
You should have your dentist check your bite on both sides to make sure everything is even. You may need additional aligners to correct that.

If the root is dead, and the crown can be lengthened, can the tooth hold a new crown? Attached is my x-ray (Photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
There are basically 2 options. One is to do a root canal / crown lengthening and a new crown. Based on the x-ray, it looks like this option does not have very good prognosis. It seems like too much of the tooth structure has chipped , too close to the bone. Your second option with better prognosis is the implant ( given you are a good candidate for it).

My front teeth are broken. Is there any permanent solution to cover the remaining surface? (Photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
first you have to figure out why the teeth are bring chipped....was it due to an accident? or a misaligned bite? or perhaps excessive grinding and clenching while you're sleeping? then you and your dentist will come up with a treatment plan considering the cause and your expectations. Composite bonding or veneers are good options. You may need to adjust the bite with orthodontics ( if your dentist determines a bite issue) or wear a night guard if you're a grinder.

Why do my front teeth keep chipping? (photos)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
One reason could be that your bite is not correct and the teeth don't come together with even force. You can see a dentist or orthodontist to find out about orthodontically moving your teeth so that the forces of occlusion( biting ) get distributed more evenly. Also if you have habits of grinding your teeth at night or day, then you should look into getting a night guard/bite guard.

What do you do if one tooth is not moving properly? (photos)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Your teeth should move according to the clincheck plan. Sometimes if the contacts between the teeth are too tight, or there is no room for the tooth to move, one or more teeth could lag in their movement. Go to your dentist so they can determine why that tooth hasn't been moving. They may need to make new aligners, relieve to contacts , etc,.....

Can I remove veneers from 4 lower front teeth, and replace them with new ones?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Yes you can replace the old veneers with new ones. Make sure the dentist who's redoing the , does that with a lot of care as the lower front teeth are small and thin to begin with so they tend to break more easily. You should also make sure you and the dentist discuss the expectations and goals in detail. good luck !

My dentist wants to do a root canal, crown and porcelain on my tooth. Is it really necessary to do all three?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
I don't see an x-ray so it's hard to give my opinion about the root canal. Usually after the root canal, you would need a crown to protect that tooth from shattering as the root canal dries out the tooth and makes it brittle. sounds like you are getting these 2 procedures that usually do go hand in hand. The price sounds reasonable as well.

Does this require a root canal and/or a crown or just a regular filling? (photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
It looks like a large size cavity. Which is close to the nerve and has exceeded under the gym as well. Most likely would need a root canal, but it can only be determined for sure, after all the decay is taken out. If the decay gets all the way to the nerve , then the nerve needs to be taken out and that's called a root canal. A crown would also be most likely necessary , but again we can only say for sure, after all the decay is out and we can see how much of the tooth structure is left. You may also need to get " crown lengthening" which is a procedure to make room for the crown by removing some of the gum/ bone. Crown lengthening is needed when the decay goes under the gum tissue.

Is having two front crowns replaced three times reasonable? How will it affect the tooth structure underneath?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Yes, every time the dentist puts a drill on a tooth, it introduces some trauma to the nerve. That said, make sure this time you see the  crowns with a try in paste first. This is the same shade as the actual cement and will allow you to see what the crowns would look like before cementing them in permanently.

Do my veneers look to big? (photos)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
There are a couple of things that can be done for you before placing the veneers. One is moving the gum tissue on your top teeth up a little, that way you will expose more of the tooth and the teeth will look longer. The other is by getting Invisalign or braces, closing the gap between the teeth a little more so that the veneers won't have to be so wide.  Veneers can only do so much, but by doing those other two procedures you can get a more aesthetic result.
