It is possible but not recommended at this point. &nbsp;The canines could be re-contoured with bonding or veneers to cosmetically create a lateral incisor "appearance." &nbsp; This will save you time, $$$, and a couple surgeries. &nbsp;I hope this helps. Shawn Hofkes DDS

This could be possible. &nbsp;It is difficult to give you any insight on your situation without posting respective pictures or xrays. &nbsp;A second opinion could validate anything your doctor is telling you. &nbsp;Bone loss around an implant can happen for a number of different reasons. &nbsp;Periimplantitis is essentially inflammation of the gums surrounding an implant which can lead to bone loss. &nbsp;If "the implant fixture is sitting outside the bone" then perhaps the implant was malpositioned from the beginning. &nbsp;Anyway, best of luck! &nbsp;I hope this helps. I have had a dental implant for 8 years. The implant feels solid and does not move, but my dentist suggests removing fixture?

If multiple attempts for RCT have failed, you may be better off removing the tooth. &nbsp;Clean the infection out and go ahead and place a dental implant. &nbsp;However, an apicoectomy is a treatment option in this case. &nbsp;Also, it would be beneficial to get a 3D cone beam CT scan done prior to any surgery. &nbsp;I hope this helps. Hello Rick, It sounds like you have lost quite a bit of bone around the implant especially if it is loose like you describe. &nbsp;Taking an antibiotic is probably Ok right now because you more than likely have an infection around the loose implant. The unfortunate news is that the implant will almost certainly have to be removed. &nbsp;It is best for you to get a 3d Ct scan to evaluate your bone and get a plan together from there. Hello! &nbsp;Implants are a very realistic option to either stablize your dentures or go for an "all on 4" type of surgery and final prothesis. &nbsp;The variable factors are the levels of the bone, the facial musculature, and how much space do we have between arches among other things. &nbsp;They could be done at the same time depending on what direction you go. &nbsp;If you have worn dentures for 5 years, more than likely some extensive bone grafting needs to be done to allow for predictable implant placement and a good over prognosis. &nbsp;It's really up to your surgeon. &nbsp;I hope this helps! I have worn dentures for 5 years, can I still get implants, and can they all be done at one time?

This a bit unusual. &nbsp;Perhaps, your doctor could go in and smooth down the bone slightly to allow for a better fitting denture. &nbsp;This procedure is called alveoloplasty. &nbsp;When you get the implants it really depends on if the doctor will be placing the implants, attaching a bar to the implants and allowing the denture to clip onto the bar. &nbsp;If a bar is used, the denture will truly be resting on the implants only. &nbsp;If the doctor is using locator attachments, the denture atleast partially will still be resting on the gum tissue. &nbsp;I hope this helps. The shade, shape, contours will be improved with veneering the laterals. &nbsp;Typically, a more proportional, cosmetic result can be attained if four or more veneers are performed on the anterior teeth. &nbsp;The doctor and lab can get a beautiful smile design going for you. &nbsp; I hope this helps!

There are several studies out there in the Journal of Periodontology and the Journal of Oral surgery, oral medicine, oral pathology, and oral radiology (OOOO) showing that this can be done predictably. &nbsp;Survival rates appear to be in the 92% range with implants being placed into infected sites. &nbsp;So if you look at the research, the answer is yes this can be done. &nbsp; The sites must be thoroughly cleaned and all infectious tissue removed. &nbsp;More than likely, bone grafting will be needed to fill in any bony deficiencies that remain. &nbsp;This will save you 4-6 months. &nbsp;I hope this helps. &nbsp; Shawn Hofkes, DDS
