You can absolutely get braces at age 52 and expect teeth to rotate and straighten.  You should definitely get braces before doing any dental implants because once implants are placed they can't be moved with braces.  Orthodontics prior to dental implants will assure that the spacing for the implants is correct and your bite is in the proper position so that the implants will function correctly.  I hope that helps!!

I would go straight to Damon braces if you are not having any jaw pain or sleeping problems.  A DNA would widen your jaws as well and can address jaw pain and sleep apnea issues but you will definetely need braces following DNA treatment.  Damon braces can get everything done in one treatment addressing your concerns with the narrow smile and your gum tissue showing when smiling. I would not take teeth on your son!! He needs growth development of his lower jaw to correct his overbite. There are functional appliances such as a Herbst or MARA appliance that would correct his overbite without extractions.  Extracting teeth would make his nose look bigger and he would have other potential long term negative effects as well-  try and find a Damon certified doctor

Yes there at alternatives to straighten your teeth - especially if that is all you are concerned with-  Invisalign or clear partial braces for a short amont of time would correct your crowding.  Just know that with out full braces your bite may not end up being where it should be and that is the trade off to something quick vs 15-18 months in Damon braces to correct everything.  The best thing to do is get a consult or two from some certified orthodontists and see what your options are.
