Dr. Sandy Zhang-Nunes of USC Roski Eye Institute is by far an exceptional very caring eye care provider that I have ever had the honor and privilege of meeting and being treated by for the past 2 years. I continue to be a patient of Dr. Zhang-Nunes and I wouldn't have it any other way! It's helpful to have a provider like Dr. Zhang-Nunes who is thorough both in the office visit and the follow up contact. Though I've moved a distance from her Arcadia office, now residing in Bakersfield, my trust in the care I receive has me driving from Bakersfield to Arcadia for my eye exam and follow ups. Everyone on Dr. Zhang-Nunes staff has been great too. They always take great care in making sure that all of my questions are answered and that things go smoothly. I always have a positive experience visiting their office,' and I have no hesitation in recommending Dr. Zhang-Nunes and the staff of USC Roski Eye Institute!
Dr. Zhang-Nunes is the best at Botox. I am super nervous about it, but she makes me comfortable and confident. I won't go to anyone else. I had tried Botox done by others with my face being messed up, but I always go back to her to fix it. Now I only go to her, she is very gentle with the procedure. I'm very highly recommend her.
Dr. Zhang-Nunes is an incredible surgeon. I had skin cancer and she was the MD they sent me to after the Mohs procedure to close my wound that was close to my eye. Her work was meticulous. If you met me you would never know I had major facial reconstructive surgery. She did such a great job. I would refer anyone to her.
First of all, no fillers are technically FDA approved for the undereye area. As an oculofacial plastic surgeon, however, I have a lot of patients present to me with the problem of dark eye circles or loss of volume in the periorbital region. Unlike some forgiving areas like nasolabial folds and marionnette lines, I have found both the product and technique is particularly important in the tear trough area to get the best results. Because of the thin skin and muscle in this area, it is very easy to overfill, bruise, or cause lumps in this area. I teach a cannula technique that avoids bruising and maximizes safety, comfort and results in this area. In terms of product, there are very few that work well in this area, while minimizing the blue hue effect (previously called by the misnomer "Tyndall effect"). I have used Restylane-L, Restylane Refyne and Versa when some extra lift is needed in the tear troughs, and Restylane Silk and Belotero when not much volume is needed, but the patient needs some smoothing. I have even used a special technique using a cannula and Restylane-L to "stent" up an eyelid that has been over operated on elsewhere, and needs support to protect the eye. As long as you are happy with your Restylane, continue with that and your current injector. If you want to try a new injector, find a physician who frequently injects in the periorbital region, and also knows how to treat complications, which can include blindness. This is a topic I teach on frequently to try to help minimize the complications of filler injections.
