It is a common question among patients with droopy eyelids, abnormally positioned eyelids, or those wanting to get rid of wrinkles.
If the lid is heavy then it would affect the shape of the cornea and the eye and create error in measuring the eye prior to cataract surgery. As a result, different power intraocular lens implant would be chosen and that eventually will affect the final visual outcomes. To get best results of cataract surgery, it is important to accurately measure the eye. This is made better if eyelid surgery is performed before cataract surgery unless the eyelid condition is minor.

It is not usual to develop eye bags or puffy eyes after cataract surgery. However, the inflammation associated with the surgery and post op recovery could lead to accumulation of fluids under the very thin eyelids skin. Severe inflammation could affect the septum that keeps the fat pads deep in the orbital cavity, therefore any weakness in the septum would lead to prolapse of fat under the skin and causes the appearance of eye bags or called puffy eyes. The septum naturally gets weaker with age and that is another reason why we could develop eye bags any older age.

I would say the risk of retinal detachment is slightly lower because the vitreous is less attached to the retina.

It is normal to have increased light sensitivity after cataract surgery because the cataract was blocking light entering the eye. This is particularly relevant to blue light which we ave more in white light and bright days. The new intraocular lens will mostly have uv light filters but not all have enough blue light filtration. The good news is that light sensitivity will get better with time. I hope that answer your questiuon
