Dr Hamra performs a very unique facelift procedure. As a result, 20 years later, my face looks natural and if I wanted to reveal my age to acquaintances, they would be shocked. I would like to mention, in addition to a facelift, I had rhinoplasty, a large growth in my neck removed and a breast reduction. I still return to his office for him to check my progress. What doctor does this? What doctor cares once you leave his office? Dr Hamra is a protectionist and has the most professional staff I have ever encountered.
Dr. Hamra and his entire staff are amazingly talented! In early 2017, I had both a composite face lift and a composite body lift. I am 58 years old and I truly look exactly like I did at 30! Dr. Hamra and his staff are caring and kind and they truly listened to what I wanted. I am astounded at the outcome! He invented these procedures and teaches them all over the world. Thank you Dr. Hamra!!
Absolutely the surgical outcome I wished for! Dr. Hamra and his staff are superior in their field - there is NO question that this is where you need to be to have plastic surgery questions and needs fulfilled.
I'd had a very bad breast reduction done by another doctor. I thought I'd done my homework and selected someone who would do a good job. I was VERY embarrassed with my outcome and was sad because I thought I had to live my life looking like that. My close friend had her breast reduction done by Dr. Hamra. I saw her seven days after her surgery. She was so delighted, she lifted her shirt and showed everyone who had time to look! I almost cried when I saw her results. She looked AMAZING in only seven days after her procedure (she's 65). She suggested that I go see Dr. Hamra. Dr. Hamra and his staff were kind and understanding (I was crying during my consultation). He corrected my failed breast reduction procedure! I'm so thankful that he considered correcting another physician's failed work. I'm thrilled with my results! I've recommended others to Dr. Hamra and they are happy as well. Now, I'm 60 years old with cute teenaged breasts. Who's cute? That would be ME!
That was the comment I received just a few months ago from a dear friend I have not seen in a couple of years. I still look like me, but a prettier more confident me! My reasons for considering a facelift were similar to most of the stories you will read and are probably the same reasons you are on this site.....jowls, turkey neck, under-eye bags, hooded eyes....I won't bore you with the details. I did a lot of research. I mean a lot. I first learned the names of the types of procedures involved in lifting and restoring the different parts of the face; Rhitedectomy, Bleharoplasty, Brow lift etc.. I then went on to learn about the different facelift procedures; Mini lift, SMAS, Deep Plane, Composite and what to expect with each procedure. I then started researching Doctors in my area; looking over their websites, looking at reviews from patients and most importantly what other doctor's were saying about them. Due to my research, I was able to face the fact that a simple fix was off the table. I wanted long lasting, natural looking results. The more I read, the more I was confident the Composite facelift was my best option. I had the surgery a year ago. The surgery itself took 5 1/2 hours. I opted to stay two nights at the private hospital and spent 3 nights in a hotel because I lived 2 1/2 hours away. I had considerable swelling but very little bruising. The pain was very minimal, more a feeling of numbness and pressure than actual pain. Armed with a pair of sunglasses and a stylish hat, my husband and I dined at local restaurants, went shopping and to museums while we were in Dallas. To the casual observer, I looked pretty normal without the sunglasses after about three weeks, but the swelling and numbness took almost four months before I really felt I looked just like me, only better. It was worth every minute! I am thrilled with the results! Anyone thinking of having facial rejuvenation do your homework and get the best surgeon for the job! That's what I did and his name is Dr. Sam T Hamra.
I went to Dr Hamra in Dallas. Such a sweet man , totally caring and pro. I had done about 6 months of research on the different procedures out there. My big issue was fillers VS the common facelift VS the Composite Facelift. I didn't like the bloated filler look , which only lasted 6 months at the most. I didn't think spending money on me was a waste. I did finance the procedure. I decided that the common facelift makes the face look pulled back to the ears where as the composite facelift will last the longest, I met a man who had it done over 20 years ago and other than his hair being gray he still looked fantastic. So that was what sold me on the best for me. I had it done in April 2016 and it took about 3 months to fully look alright again. I forget I am my worst critic. I compared pics of me at 35 to now and I am comparable only all the swelling is not down yet around my brown bones so my eyes are not completely back to normal yet. (No one can tell, I hear, among people who have no idea I had it done and even some who know) I hear it may take about 8 months but I don't care being that one year recoup is nothing to going the next 30 years looking old. Most of the swelling is down by 3 months. My new 35 YO look is what I wanted and I got it with Dr Hamra..... And it will last until I'm too old to care anymore. I love this procedure!!!! would do it again in a heart beat. Doctors including anesthesiologist were all wonderful and i was very well taken care of. Even the hospital I stayed at was premium.
I had one breast 2.5 times the size of the other as a teenager up into my early 20's. Needless to say this was quite challenging. My parents initially had taken me to the "local" plastic surgeon to help me obtain breast asymmetry. It was a disaster and years later I made my way into Dr.Sam Hamras office which changed my life.
I had recently lost my husband after a lengthy illness.I needed a lift after an exhausting few years.I had always known of Dr.Hamra's reputation in Dallas,so he was naturally my choice of doctor for a facelift. He literally wrote the book on a facelift technique that has been embraced by plastic surgeons all over the world. Even though he is a celebrity surgeon,he is one of the nicest, most caring doctors you could ever find.He is a charming man that takes an unbelievable amount of time explaining his approach. I felt completely confident in his hands. His results are outstanding. He took years off my face and gave me a fresh start and a new lease on life.I was in my mid fifties when I had the procedure.Even though it has been several years since then, my results are as fresh as the day they were done. His technique lasts !!! Dr.Hamra's office staff is warm and gracious and beyond helpful. They envelop you in comfort and confidence. They go above and beyond making you feel as if you were their only patient. You would not find a nicer more respectful office anywhere. My experience was one I would recommend to anyone wanting fabulous results and a joyful experience!
I was 58 and had very droopy eyes which made me look tired. I also had a sagging neck and cheeks. I was single widowed for 2 years. I lacked confidence and was unhappy with any picture taken of me. I had to ask friend to let me review a picture before they put it on facebook. I had not liked a photograph of myself in years. I had all the surgery recommended by my physician and have been very happy with the results. I look younger than all my friends even the ones that are 10 years younger. I get lots of compliments on my face and my neck and my eyes. I am so glad I had the surgery and cannot imagine looking like I did before.
Prior to meeting Dr. Hamra, I had a very disappointing facelift, upper eyelids & browlift by another surgeon in DFW. What was more disappointing than the results of my first surgery was the treatment I received not only by my first surgeon but also by the countless surgeons I consulted with in my journey to get help. From my very first contact with Dr. Hamra's office it was different. Belinda, one of his nurses spent about half and hour on the phone with me listening, YES listening. How refreshing!, it made me feel like she really cared. She offered me a copy of his book "The Facelift Let Down" and said she would have it for me the day of my consultation. The book was at the front desk for me when I arrived. I love it when people actually do what they say they are going to do! The book is a MUST READ if you are considering a facelift, because trust me, you don't know what you don't know AND you NEED to know. In today's world of right here right now instant gratification, some of us just assume that when it comes to our face, the same should apply. WRONG. Trust me, you do not want quick, you want it done RIGHT. Dr. Hamra humored me with about 4 or 5 consultations, I had many questions and always seem to think of them after I left his office, yet he never made me feel anything but comfortable and reassured me that he wanted me to come back with any questions I may have. The hospital experience with Dr. Hamra was first class as well. The team he works with at Baylor Uptown provided me with extraordinary care and service! And it does not end there..., all of the post-op care has been top notch! Lana, Kim, Donna & Belinda are the most patient and nurturing care givers I have ever experienced. There is no substitute for the experience of Dr. Hamra.
There are many factors to the cost of a body lift. Every surgeon has their criteria for what they consider a body lift. Traditionally a lower body lift covers liposuction of the abdomen, flanks, hips and circumferential thighs, excess skin removal and abdominal muscles are tightened. This is a 270 degree incision. You have to spend at least one night in the hospital. The average cost is between $10,000 to $20,000 and this doesn't include hospital and the anesthesia fees. Again, this is a average cost without seeing the patient. And lastly, insurance doesn't cover any part of this surgery because it is considered cosmetic.
I would suggest asking your plastic surgeon. Every surgeon has their criteria and I would want you to follow their recommendations. I am fine with my patients starting the day before and continuing for 5-7 days after the procedure, but that is what I would tell my patients.
That is great to hear about your weight loss. I would suggest making a consultation appointment with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and discussing your options with them based on what your insurance will allow. It is hard to say without photos. But I will say, the area you are talking about is called your pannus and some insurance companies will cover the panniculectomy (removal of excess skin only). Good luck in your search.
Unfortunately most insurance companies will not cover a body lift. The only way it could be considered is if you have a large pannus (area of skin that hangs below your pubic area) and if you have documentation from other doctor's stating why this is a health risk due to infection, skin breakdown, etc.) But again, it all depends on your insurance and then you work that out with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon. Good luck!
The excess skin you are describing is your abdominal pannus. It's is very common to have an infection due to your skin rubbing together and it doesn't get an air. This is called panniculitis. I'm sure you have been treated for these types of skin infections. The only true way to rid yourself of this problem is to remove the excess skin. This is called a panniculectomy. This procedure removes the skin that hangs over and the incision is hidden in your underwear. I would check with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon to see what your options are with them and what your insurance will cover. Good luck!
