My journey started when I first became an adult and I could not shift my thighs no matter the exercise! I have always been fit! 4 babies later - a divorce and breast augmentation (which I love) I decided to do something about it! I contacted Dr Lanzer and he put me in contact with his Brisbane Surgeon Dr Wells. From the outset he was kind gentle respectful and gentle. He looked me in the eyes and never once made me feel stupid or embarrassed by my body! He gave me hope but no promises of perfection. His nurses were just beautiful and equally kind and respectful. Surgery day was early 4am and I was nervous! But the nurses were soo sweet and I felt safe in their care. Coming out of my general I was in such pain - worse than any surgery I have ever had - and I have had a lot! It was like my body was on fire and no matter the pain relief it wouldn’t go…. I had the most beautiful nurse hold my hand through it all - tell me it was normal….. I ended up on a lot of pain medication - and to be honest the first two days were horrific. The Tummy Tuck was not at all sore but where I had liposuction was horrific. I was not prepared for the pain or the lack of mobility post surgery. I needed help with everything. One day later I saw how amazing the results were but the pain remained soo bad ….. I kept up all pain meds and by day 3/4 the pain finally was reducing - BUT the swelling started. For the first 2-3 weeks I became soo swollen that the regret and tears were endless. What had I done. Despite my research I was not prepared to look bigger than when I went in to surgery and I was soo fearful that I would not lose the fluid or swelling! I kept up pain meds although didn’t need them as much in week 2-3….. sleeping was horrific - as I was upright and I am normally a side sleeper! However by the beginning of week 4 after two specific massages to get rid of fluid I could see that there were slow but significant changes to my body shape - the way I imagined and dreamt….. by the beginning of week 4 I was starting to feel better and more positive and I could see that the liposuction had worked as the fluid continued to leave my body. 5 weeks post op and today I feel bloody amazing - my body continues to shrink - my thighs that had my whole entire life been soo embarrassing are no longer there…. My tummy is flat my flanks are gone I have a tiny waist and nothing fits me anymore as I am too small for my clothes! My partner is in shock by my new body and my confidence is at an all time high! Everyone is noticing my new improved shape but best of all I feel like a new woman! I still have a weird sensation where I had the liposuction and there are a few lumps and bumps especially on my inner thighs and lower back but each day it gets better - and my shape continues to develop. I have lost 5kg in just 5 weeks because of the lipo - they took 6L of fat!!!!!! I have no regrets but do want to warn others that it’s a tough journey - soo worth it in the end but difficult and painful especially for the first two weeks. You must also be prepared for the swelling which I was not - and perhaps I swelled more than others but for a few days there it was truly horrific …… but then magically it all started to go away as my body began to heal. The compression was amazing and made me feel safe and is now too big so I am wearing super tight and size small Lorna Jane leggings! Dr Wells is amazing and his work on me has been above what I ever dreamt or imagined- he is a cosmetic surgeon but my god he knows his stuff and would not hesitate to go back to him in a heart beat!!!!
I found communication with the office quite difficult, I had to ring up several times to try to book a consultation and the communication between staff was not great, after my first consultation the scheduled one with the dr for me but on the day they got confused and thought it was the first consultation which I had already done. When you call up you go through a call centre and can’t reach the actual clinic which can be frustrating. Aside from the communication problems the surgery was great. The office is in an area which seemed a bit strange, suburbia and not what I expected. But the surgery was clean and the staff was friendly. Dr. Wells was friendly and helpful. After the surgery, I woke up shaking a lot uncontrollably for about 10 mins, which was pretty uncomfortable. The dr prescribed me paracetamol + codeine for pain, but as soon as I got back to my hotel it was apparent it wasn’t strong enough so I text him directly for something stronger which he provided straight away. He gives all patients his personal number for such incidents which is great. I’m surprised they prescribed codeine though as it clearly wasn’t strong enough.I had to ask the dr to re prescribe me again about 3 times which was a bit of a pain , it felt like I was being drip-fed medication and I was a bit anxious of running out as the pain was pretty severe in the first week or so. The compression garment they gave me was too tight and very painful. We worked out that it was too tight after about a week so the dr told me to just wear tight shapewear like Spanx. It was a bit annoying as I paid $200 for the compression garment. I took arnica tablets for about three weeks and bruising went down pretty quickly. They said they were able to put 320cc of fat into each breast. I started off as a small c and am now at a full D , I’m very happy with the shape and size of my breasts and hopefully they retain most of the fat. They achieved a great lift as well. The lipo is still a bit lumpy in places which I have been advised is normal and that I should regularly massage. Overall I’m very happy with the outcome of the procedure , it has only been just over 3 weeks so I’ll have to wait to see long term how the fat retains
