Both Kybella and CoolMini are non-surgical treatments used to correct a double chin, and both require multiple treatments. Liquid nitrogen (cryotherapy) is used to treat a wide range of skin conditions, including keratoses, warts and age spots. It is one of our oldest dermatology treatments. Since this treatment doesn't target skin pigment specifically, it works by causing a superficial burn from cold. The spot will look swollen, red and will feel tender for several hours to days after treatment, but your body will heal the burn over the next 2 to 4 weeks. We use both Hydroquinone and Retin A to lighten skin pigment, including sunspots. Typically we recommend using 4% hydroquinone twice a day for no longer than 4 months. Retin A, on the other hand, can be used long term. It's also important to use sunscreen and avoid sun exposure when you are trying to lighten pigment. In my experience, sunspots will get lighter but will not fade completely. I would recommend discontinuing the use of hydroquinone since you've already seen improvement from it. You may need to consider laser treatment to help fully remove the sunspots.
At first glance, the spot on your face appears to be from sun damage. Unfortunately it's hard to tell exactly what it is based on the photograph. Before trying any other medical treatments, I suggest having the spot evaluated by a dermatologist. It's important to keep in mind that unlike a Medical Spa, a visit to the dermatologist would most likely be covered by medical insurance.
Depending on the size of the treatment area, the cost is $750 - $1000 and takes about 45 minutes per treatment. Most people only need one to two treatments. For smaller areas, we often use an injectable treatment called, Kybella. This can be used in conjunction with Coolsculpting. If you have a lot of fat under your neck, we suggest using CoolSculpting. We often use Kybella to refine a chin after CoolSclupting has removed a notable amount of fat.
