I originally started Invisalign with my dentist. They were giving me what I thought was a really good deal by only charging me $3,500. The trays didn't fit well, I wore them for a year without any change, and the attachments (bumps placed on your teeth to help the trays move your teeth) were huge, not discreet and on all my teeth in the front. After getting the run around from them about why a year later my teeth didn't move I decided to get the opinion of an orthodontist. That is how I met Dr. Patel. He is board certified and not many orthodontists are, so I was confident he would be honest, even if the truth was brutal! I decided to scratch my treatment with the dentist and start over at iClear Orthodontics with him. A few things that were different right away...first, he is able to place the attachments on the back of my upper front teeth...this was a HUGE relief, my treatment is hardly noticeable to the naked eye now, as Invisalign should be. Second, they DO NOT use big, bulky gross clay impressions in their office. Instead, they take this little wand, scan your teeth with it and make a 3D image of your teeth on a computer. The image is perfect unlike the clay impressions. This image was sent directly to Invisalign digitally and my trays fit PERFECT!! Now it is 3 months in and my teeth ave already moved! Don't flush your money down the drain by going to your dentist or an old school orthodontist, it will end up costing you WAY more money and time in the long run. I'm so happy with Dr. Patel and his staff, can't wait to see my new smile!!
Dr. Patel's office is gorgeous, I felt as though I was in a modern day spa as opposed to a dental office. His staff is incredible and informative. Before having my braces placed here, I spoke to several other orthodontists about clear braces and Invisalign. I chose them for several reasons, but here are the main; 1) The cost was WAY less...when I say WAY less...I knew Damon braces were pricey, but I didn't expect to hear from anyone that it would cost me almost $8,000!!! (my teeth have just a tiny bit of crowding and my bite is fine). 2) He is board certified. Doesn't sound like a big deal, right? Well...listen to this, only TWENTY PERCENT of orthodontists are board certified, HELLO! Any dentist can put you in braces or treat you with Invisalign, just like any family medicine doctor can preform heart surgery, but should they? One of my friends took her daughter to a dentist for braces and she is having serious issues. Go to a specialist, and then even better...a board certified one. 3) They use Damon System in their practice. These braces don't just straighten your teeth, they also make your smile wider. When you make your smile wider you lips and cheeks have more support and you look younger, and age more gracefully! Trust me, as a 29 year old I was not even considering braces until I heard about these!
Many patients come to us for a second round of orthodontic treatment and the reasons vary greatly. Like yourself, they are not typically thrilled to be seeking help for their smile again. To make your treatment as endurable as possible it is important that you are both comfortable and confident with the orthodontist you select. If you are not confident with this doctors treatment plan yet, seek an additional opinion elsewhere. With that being said it sounds as if there are corrections that need to be made to your bite. Six months is a very reasonable amount of time. Without photos or a consultation it is difficult to answer your question in more detail. Best of luck to you!
