In Feb 2013 I went to have some Juvederm Ultra in the right side of my top lip to fix a small asymmetry due to a facial muscle. It was immediately obvious the doctor placed too much filler. My half lip was lumpy, bruised, swollen, and the same size as my naturally big bottom lip. The doctor assured me it would swell down. 6 months after it still didn’t disappear, so I went to see another doctor, the best one in the region with many satisfied clients. I wanted to have it dissolved. He advised me against hyaluronidase as the medicine is used off-license, doesn’t have approvals for safety nor efficacy from any medical institution, and has many bad reviews. He educated me that it destroys natural occuring hyalouronic acid much more than it would Juvederm ultra, which is engineered to be resistant to breakage (they wanted to achieve long lasting results with it). This would make permanent damage. So, instead he placed JU filler in the left side of my top lip as well to even it out. He made it almost identical when my mouth is closed, BUT when I laugh or smile, the right side is very lumpy. Also, there is a bluish mark left on the left side visible in daylight, which is actually filler reflecting from underneath. It is very visible during the day unless I cover it with a dark lipstick (meaning red or purple, simple pink gloss does not help at all to cover it). Anyway, I waited for 5 years for the filler to dissolve. The lip, however, still looks the same: partially blue, completely lumpy, too big and showing no signs of disappearing. I wish I could have my 2012 lip back!! Don’t mess with natural beauty, people.
