I can’t believe that after years of research, reading blogs and watching Youtube videos of people documenting their hair transplant journeys that I am finally able to say I did it! And share my own story. As a black woman with very course hair, I have always relied on weaves and braids to manage my hair and unfortunately, as is the case with many women in my community, my edges started to recede over the past four years, down to being completely bald. I have spent so much time researching doctors and unfortunately being an expat in the middle east, It took me a while to find a doctor that I could 100% trust and that had experience with my texture hair. I finally found Dr Roomi from Vinci Hair Centre in Dubai and after back and forth communication I set my date for an FUT/strip surgery and went under the knife on Monday 7 Jan ‘19. I won’t go into a lot of detail about the surgery itself because it’s pretty standard and there’s not much difference from any other post for the same procedures that I have read up on in the past. Service: I was very happy with the warm, attentive and hands-on service from the Vinci/You New team. Having any type of surgery is very daunting but they put me at ease immediately when I arrived and made sure I was comfortable and well informed at every single part of the process. Communication: Having travelled to Dubai for the surgery, the team’s pre and post communication (mostly on WhatsApp) was excellent and they always responded to my (million) questions :) The Clinic: The clinic itself is very modest and very dated I must say which doesn’t do them the justice they deserve. But the back medical facility was very clean, well equipped and comfortable. The location is in the old part of Dubai which is charming and not at all like the typical luxurious high-end newer part of the city. Location: I will admit that Turkey was on my short list too but I decided to go with Dubai because of their extremely strict regulations and standards it the health care sector. I found Dr Riad Roomi online and he has experience with African hair (having also did a tenure in Nigeria). He is also American Board of Hair Restoration & of Cosmetics Surgery certified - which is a huge plus. He was just a wonderful doctor and made me feel really confident, relaxed and I was definitely in good hands. I truly thank him. I am writing this review 2 days after my surgery. I flew back home the day after with no problems or pain. I had an overall easy experience. I really cannot say I had any bad moments which I am so greatful for. Only time will tell with the results and I will do my best to keep updating! Feel free to ask questions!
