Not sure what movements your orthodontist is trying to make but generally if power chains and elastics are part of the treatment, then you need to have them replaced. If you wait until your next appt. you will most likely lengthen your treatment time because the tooth movements won't take place. Power chains are generally good for about 2 weeks and placement of elastic ties under them help a lot.
