I have heard from several patients, as a "happy side effect" though, that the orgasms that they ARE having are stronger, and come more easily after having had the Mona Lisa Touch treatments performed.

Unfortunately currently there are no insurers covering the cost of the Mona Lisa Touch treatments. There are many ways to make it more affordable. The company sometimes offers us an incentive that we then pass along to the patient; my office has an occasional raffle where we raffle off a half-price Mona Lisa Treatment. If you like your outcome and refer someone else to come in to have it done as well, we offer a rebate when that person comes in, and we offer a discount for paying it in a bundle, or all three treatments at once ( since that helps pay for the cost of the machine) There are also medical lending companies like Care Credit and Lending USA which work with patients to help them afford this treatment.

The medical studies have shown that the best way to maintain the thickened vaginal mucosa and the benefits of the three treatments have been to come back for an annual refresher. As an aside, I also tell my patients that one of the best ways to keep the vagina healthy is to have regular intercourse. Usually post-Mona Lisa, that's not a problem!

In order to know whether a Mona Lisa Touch will help with vaginismus, I do a full evaluation to see if, indeed that is the true diagnosis. Usually there is a combination of things going on causing the discomfort that may be vaginismus. I have now had success in using Mona Lisa "off label" on 4 different young women patients who have had variations on what is described as "episiotomy site pain", or "sore spots" on the genital area that never seem to heal". Two treatments on each one, 4-5 weeks apart and the condition resolved. It makes sense, as the Mona Lisa works underneath the painful area, bringing new blood flow, collagen, and fibroblasts to heal "from the inside- out".

The Mona Lisa Touch has been shown to successfully treat Lichen Sclerosis A study has actually been presented in a Journal of Gynecologic surgery this year that shown successful long term treatment with Mona Lisa Touch for Lichen Sclerosis on the outer genital/vulvar area, the inner labia, around the vaginal opening and between the vagina and the rectum. I have seen much success with my patients, but pre- and post-menopausal.

Sometimes you need a special type of dilator program that we specifically do in the office, which actually gradually expands the opening, until it is open enough for the caliber of the Mona Lisa. Only THEN can I initiate Mona Lisa treatments, and they will do what they are supposed to-- make the vaginal mucosa more supple, healthy, with more lubrication, for more comfortable intercourse.
