My surgery was scheduled for June 29, 2020. Ten days before appointment I was contacted by surgical office and advised that they weren’t aware he had a prior engagement that day and needed to move appointment one day out to June 30, 2020. Three days later was called again and advised that they weren’t aware that he had a conference to attend and needed to move my surgery to July 7, 2020. When I advised them that my husband had already taken off to care for me and this change would cause a huge inconvenience for me, I was told that was the earliest appointment available until I asked for another surgeon. I was then contacted back and advised my original appointment on June 29, 2020 would stand. On June 29, 2020 during my mark up he asked me if I wanted him to try and not do a vertical lone for less scarring and that I was border line as a qualifier per my measurements. When I woke up in recovery, I realized that I had drains placed and the recovery team could not explain to me why. They attempted to locate Dr Chandawarkar for about 10 minutes before my next concern arose. I had blood on the black compression bra that I was placed in so they removed it and placed me in a white compression bra that I immediately advised them was not as fitting as the one they had taken off. They looked for the same kind of bra and could not locate one. They attempted to reach Dr Chandawarkar once more for this concern. 30 minutes later he was no where to be found and I was discharged with a list of questions that nobody seemed to be able to answer. I utilized MyChart on July 2, 2020 and advised them that my left breast was very swollen and had various other concerns and wanted him or someone that was present during my surgery to call me. As of July 21, 2020 I still have not spoken to him or anyone present. To go back on July 3, 2020 I received a call from a nurse in reference to my concerns and she was trying to read the notes and once I started to ask detailed questions, she said she would have him or his PA call me. So I requested my medical records myself and immediately found that the information she was able to provide was incorrect. This was very alarming and I still had mounds of questions. On July 9, 2020 he was not available for my appointment per a family member of his allegedly had symptoms of COVID 19 and he was under quarantine. His PA looked at my left breast, noticed that it was twice the size of my right and told me it was normal swelling and they wouldn’t know much about the size until month 3. She did state that I had a collection of fluid on my right side and it would resolve itself. On July 10, 2020 I emailed with questions on how to additionally care for seroma and was told what not to do other than what should be done. On July 16, 2020 I sent another communication expressing concerns with pain and swelling in my left breast, expressed concerns with sagging and wanted to know if a lift had been performed and the fact that it was my third request in writing to speak directly with my surgeon. I was advised to send photos. I sent the photos the morning of July 17, 2020 and when I had not gotten a response back on that platform I called the office exhausted they were about to close and had to leave a message. I expressed concern with infection and possibly going septic. The PA called me back and said from my photos I looked fine and to keep my post op appointment for August 6, 2020 and I didn’t need to go to the ER. She did state they could move my appointment up a week if needed. On July 20, 2020 I messaged requesting an emergency visit per my pain worsened, the swelling double in area and size, I now had a golf sized ball under my breast above the nipple and skin was very warm to touch with redness around the area. I asked again to speak with my surgeon directly. I was told to send pictures again. I had enough of being dismissed and went to the emergency room to be treated. The ultrasound found a concerning area above my left nipple and a Catscan was performed that showed a bad infection. The ER doctor contacted the surgeons office and advised them that let I needed to be seen within 24 hours. The scheduling department called me 2.5 hours later and scheduled me for July 23, 2020. I advised her that I was told that I needed to be seen within 24 hours. She had a nurse contact me back and she stated that was the info she was provided by the PA. I followed the call up with another emergency appointment request and the nurse that I spoke with on the phone replied that she forwarded my concerns to the PA and would try to have the surgeon call me July 22, 2020 between visits per their day was full. PLEASE be careful with this provider. I may have to have a second surgery because of this. Updated on 24 Jul 2020: My surgery was scheduled for June 29, 2020. I advised her that I had a Catscan and that they should be able to access it since the hospitals used the same online medical program. She said she couldn’t so I had to drive and get a CD myself and take it to my appointment. At the appointment the surgeon stated that he wasn’t aware that I had sent 6 email communications and left 2 messages for a direct call from him. He stated that he looked at the CD and didn’t see any fluid and to take the antibiotic and anti inflammatory meds he prescribed and I did have an infection. On my way out one of the nurses stated that she had just attempted to load the CD and couldn’t access the images yet so I was very confused how the surgeon did when that nurse was the one that got the disk from my husband per I had left it in the car. I’ve been on the meds for 2 days now and there is no improvement. Now I’m dealing with a nipple inversion. I’ve sent another communication to my surgeon and am awaiting a response. On July 27, 2020 I sent another communication to my surgeons office explaining to the that my condition was worsening and now the swelling was turning into a huge abscess. A nurse called me back with a nasty attitude and said the had already messaged me and told me to keep taking the antibiotic. I told her that wasn’t good enough per it clearly wasn’t working and she said “Well, what is it you want”? I told her that I wanted to speak with my surgeon directly and she told me he doesn’t take calls. I said “well, he operated on me and I need to speak directly to him and she became very combative and I disconnected the call. My aunt called and spoke to a head nurse and 2 hours later the surgeon called me and said he wanted to see me in office on July 28, 2020 @ 930am. They determined at that appointment that I needed emergency and made me a direct admit. Here I sit as I write this hospitalized and was just told that I have to stay another 3 days because infectious disease is involved and I have to wait for culture results. I’m really upset because they have my reason for admit as Breast Pain, left and also treating anemia and Mastitis. I am not anemic nor am I being treated for it. This is just getting worse by the day.
