I had a breast reduction and tummy tuck 9/2018. I stayed one night and the staff at HRH were outstanding and I heard several praises of Dr. Scott's work and bedside manner. Dr. Scott and her office staff are all amazing. From my first appointment to my last I received incredible and informative care. It was a positive experience and I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Scott or Hendricks Regional Health in Danville to others.
I have had a weight problem my entire life! Up and down, every diet, every program out there. I'd lose some weight, then get pregnant and gain it all back. My highest weight was 263#. So I heard about the gastric sleeve method of Bariatric surgery, heard how successful it was for people with 100# to lose, so I did the consultation with St. Vincent hospital in Indianapolis. I had my surgery in 2013. I've lost the weight and kept it off for 2+ years now but, like with everyone else, it's not the end of my journey. I started researching PS in Indy for a Tummy tuck. I have decided on a Dr, the next step is to set up surgery date. I'm so excited to finally be moving forward! I meet with Dr. Rachel Scott in April go go over the fine details, then schedule the surgery. I will post some before W/L photos & some current photos soon. Updated on 19 Mar 2016: I now have the surgery date of 5/12/16. Time to start preparing! Woo hoo, here we go! Updated on 17 Apr 2016: I am looking for information on the best scar ointment/cream. so far all I have heard is Maderma. What has worked for you? Also, need recommendations on what you think I will need with for the first couple of weeks. I am having the anchor extended tummy tuck, with the repair to the abdominal muscles. My Dr. says I will have a pain blocker that will last for about 3 days, ;-) I will be staying in the downstairs family room where the dogs won't be able to jump on my. I will have access to a bathroom, with my easy chair that I slept in after my bariatric surgery. I don't have to go upstairs, until it is time to shower, which should be 3 - 4 days out. I am both excited and nervous. Updated on 7 May 2016: It's 5 days away! I'm excited, nervous, anxious and can't believe it's finally here. I had my pre-op phone call with the hospital yesterday. We went over my tests, where I report to on 5/12, what my family should expect etc. ain't no stopping me now! Updated on 12 May 2016: OK, I did it! Laying in the hospital after 4 hrs in surgery. I haven't seen the incision or how I look but all the nurses say my new waist is AMAZING! I'm taking Norco every 4 hours and that is helping. I was able to get out of bed to sit in the chair to eat dinner, and again to go to the bathroom. I have 2 IV ports, but they are only using one. The other was set up as a precaution. All in all I am doing great, pain goes from 7 of 10 to 3 of 10. Sleeping well and no sickness from anesthetic. Can't wait to see my new shape! Updated on 13 May 2016: I am resting and it's been 24 hours since my surgery. I was able to snap a pic early this morning when the binder and pads were off. I am STUNNED, can't believe this is my body! Updated on 15 May 2016: I slept really well last night. Didn't have to Get up and take narco to relieve pain! I took 2 aleve at 9:30 pm and was fine all night! Today I have some pain (2) around the drains, but otherwise I feel good. I do have a slight headache but that may be due to no BM yet. I am not worried tho, as a Bariatric patient I can go 3 - 4 days before I do. I have been drinking lots of fluids and drinking miralax, so it will be fine. I showered yesterday, felt good but it was very short, looking forward to a little longer shower today. The binder itches some, so I am going to put a camisole on under the binder today. Coffee is good this am! Until next time..... Updated on 18 May 2016: So far I have been posting on my progress, but I really need to let everyone know what a great group of Dr's & Nurses I had during my procedure & stay. Starting with the admitting nurse at 5:45 am, she was very friendly and professional. Then my prep nurse, IV nurse, Anesthesia nurse and so on. All were so nice! Once I was up in my room, all the nurses and nurses aides were so helpful and friendly. Just some that I remember are Delmy, Alyssa and Ruth. They took such good care of me, never rushed, not exasperated if I pushed the button to fix my socks. Thank you ladies! Updated on 21 May 2016: I went in for my 1 week PO appt. on Friday. Woo Hoo, 1 drain removed! Dr Scott removed any pieces of tape that had not fallen off on its own. Most of it was off or just barely clinging on, since I have been able to shower each day after I got home. Only thing she said not to do is don't let the water spray directly on my incisions, so I'd let the water hit my back or chest. I still have a bit of bleeding/discharge from my belly button, but she says it looks ok, no need to be concerned and I should let the water hit (gently) directly now, keep it flashed out. I can almost completely stand up, no tugging in the abdominal area. The Dr. Is very pleased with my progress. I am as well, just really looking forward to the removal of the right drain, it is right now, a major discomfort. As far as my overall pain/discomfort, at the 1 week mark, I am about a 4-5. I really wish I could sleep flat, so that is my number 2 issue behind the drain. Due to the bad sleeping, I have a bit less tolerance. That may be a good thing, because if my tolerance level was higher, I would probably be "overdoing" it, then in more pain by the end of the day. On Saturday I was able to go to Costco, hubby drove. Then I drove myself to the local nursery store to buy some flowers to plants. We went out for dinner, stopped at the hardware store, then to Ulta for shampoo. I feel pretty good for 1week PO! Updated on 31 May 2016: Ok, so even though I have read a bunch of reviews, I don't think I was prepared for the recovery period for this surgery. I have an incision from my breast bone, to my pelvic bone, then one from from my left hip to my right hip. This is a major surgery! I am having a hard time with the recovery time! I want to do more but know that if I do, I will be in pain tonight. My dr gave me 3 weeks off because I had the anchor TT, and even going back after 3 weeks, she says I will not be "on my game". Can't believe people go back after 2 weeks. I feel like I need 2 more to be fully recovered. Oh well, baby steps, thank goodness for FMLA! Updated on 8 May 2018: Dr. Scott did my anchor TT 2 years ago this month. I could not be happier with both my decision to go withDr. Scott and Hendricks Regional hospital. Dr. Scott has an easy going, forth right demeanor and her surgical expertise left me very happy with my results. I stayed one night in the hospital, left with 2 drains. One came out a week later, the other was in for a couple of weeks. The scar is minimal.
I had my surgery on 12/14/17 at Hendricks Regional Health by Dr. Rachel Scott. I stayed one night in the hospital. I did have drains which one came out in 4 days and the other on day 6. The pain is manageable and not the horror I had expected. I’ve had 3 c-sections and this surgery to me was easier. I was so nervous prior to surgery as I have 3 young children but after only being down a couple days I am thrilled with my results and know it will only get better as swelling goes down. I am 36 and weighed 130 at 5’2 prior to surgery. I had about 3 lbs of skin removed. My goal is to lose 5-8 lbs after surgery as I wasn’t quite at my goal on surgery day. This is the best decision I have ever made and my surgeon was amazing. I’m looking forward to a couple other procedure by her!
This is my first post for my review. I am scheduled on 3/1/16 for a full abdominoplasty. The CPT codes are 15830, 15947, and 15843. My surgery has been approved by insurance due to multiple issues that I have surrounding the skin. I always knew when I was losing weight that I would need this surgery. This is only the first in a serious of others including bra-line back lift, breast lift, and arm lift. I wanted to give a little back ground into me. My starting weight was 395lbs at 6 foot tall. I had been over 300lbs for the most part since middle school. I started losing weight with changing my eating habits and exercising. It took me a year to lose 154lbs, and it was at that point I realized I was having issues with my skin. I realized I couldn't run the full half marathon distance, because my skin was touching my legs causing pain. I realized I couldn't get really deep into my squats, causing bad form and lack of progress. I went to my family doctor to inquire about the steps to help me. She referred me to a plastic surgeon with the local hospital. When I met Dr. Scott I knew she was the right choice for me. She listened to my needs and problems. She discussed my options, and informed me that the staff within the hospital would fight for me to get approved with insurance. Fortunately, I only had to wait 2 weeks for the approval before scheduling. I was concerned that I would not be approved by the doctor, because I still have approximately 50lbs to lose including the weight I will lose from the multiple excess skin removal surgeries. When the doctor did the examination, she basically told me I had done everything I could to fix my stomach. The skin would never go down. That was a huge relief, because I felt the same way. Hours of weight lifting and cardio weekly, and I had not lost an inch in my stomach in months. For me, this is just the 3rd step in taking back my life from super morbid obesity. I started with nutrition, next came exercise. Now, my tummy tuck. I am excited to see myself looking like a normal person. I am also realistic about results. I have a very scarred/stretch marked stomach. This surgery is about taking my life back. Updated on 19 Feb 2016: Here are a few more picture of the extent of excess skin I have after losing more than 150lbs. At this point, I only have 10 days to go until my extended tummy tuck. Only 6 more work days. I have purchased some after surgery comfortable clothes, because the last thing I wanted to do after losing weight was keep all my high weight clothes around. So I didn't even have hardly any baggy pajamas. I have purchased protein shakes to keep on hand, I drink those now some, but I figured it would be quick and easy protein after surgery. I also got some vitamin E for my scar. I know there are a lot of different products for scars, but I watched my grandpas 6 inch stapled neck scar and 18 inch chest to abdomen stapled scare disappear with vitamin E oil. So I'm going to stick with what I've seen work. I just can't wait for the day. Updated on 28 Feb 2016: I fee like I have entered the no sleep zone. All I can think about is my surgery and getting everything ready for my surgery. I just can't even begin to imagine how much my life will change without this huge mass of skin and fat in front of me. Updated on 2 Mar 2016: I have my extended tummy tuck yesterday morning. My surgeon is affiliated with a hospital, so I stayed over night at the hospital(still here). During my surgery she had to make the decision to do an anchor cut to remove as much skin as possible. She was able to remove over 10 lbs. I've had a few sneak peaks when they checked my dressing, it's pretty incredible. So excited to share more in the coming weeks. Updated on 7 Mar 2016: This week has been wonderful. I can say with certainty that I have not hurt nearly as much as I expected. The worst pain is actually my back from being hunched over. My back is the only reason I am still taking pain medication really. The muscle spasms are pretty painful too. My doctor told me I had much more muscle than most patients. This is likely because I do workout so much including intense core routines. So those muscles are cramping up as the heal. It is feels like I've done 500 sit ups in a row. Now, the results. As I've said before, I knew I wouldn't have a perfect body after this surgery. I have extensive stretch marks. I also had a huge amount of skin to remove. My surgery was to help with medical problems, and it will serve that purpose. I also think that my body turned out looking better than I could ever hope for. Even less than a week post op, I look so feminine. I'm very happy, and I am lucky to have worked with a doctor that was faced with the worst patient circumstances and made a beauty.
Tasha, it is great that you are thinking about safety before jumping into a surgery. With your current BMI, there are considerations for both the safety of either surgery but also what can be accomplished and how satisfied you are likely to be with the results. You would be less likely to have complications from surgery and/or anesthesia at a lower BMI. After tummy tuck in particular you will certainly be more satisfied your hard-earned dollars got you at a lower BMI. No one's body is "perfect" but with BMI less than 35 (or better yet 30, but we have to stay realistic), the results of tummy tuck and liposuction are much more ideal. I would recommend consulting with your primary doctor and/or a nutritionist to establish a healthy weight loss plan that you can stick with and have long-term success. And then, once you're on track schedule a consult with at least one Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in your area. Best wishes, and good luck in your journey!
It looks like there are some areas of your abdomen that should be evaluated by your surgeon. Firm areas or "bumps" under the skin are not uncommon after this surgery, and often resolve on their own with time, simple massage, or treatments like ultrasound. But, you may need some additional care for the hip to hip scar line and the belly button. Keep them clean, and schedule an appointment soon with your surgeon or if that's not possible, a Board-certified Plastic surgeon near you. Best wishes and be well!
However it happened, I am very glad that you found this condition before it found you! WPW can be a very serious, and even fatal, heart electrical issue. Whether you plan to have your tummy tuck or not, you should be seen by a cardiologist, who will likely also have you evaluated by an interventional cardiologist. Often this condition can be corrected with what is called an ablation procedure to "fix" the bad electrical circuit(s). Once it is corrected, if you are healthy otherwise, you should be able to have your tummy tuck. Best wishes and be well!
From your photo, it looks like most of your bruise is a yellow color, meaning that it is fading. Some bruising after breast lift/augmentation is expected, and tends to be worst at the lowest part of the breast. As long as the bruising is not getting darker and/or new bruises are not appearing, you are probably right on track. If you have any worries, don't hesitate to call your surgeon. Best wishes with your new breasts!
If you had only a lift (no implants) and are fully healed then having a nipple piercing should be fine. If you experienced increased nipple sensation after your lift, you may find that the piercing process itself is more sore, but may given some increased stimulation in the long run. But, if it's the lift that you are unhappy with, I would encourage you to have a discussion with your surgeon or another ABPS Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in your area before jumping into getting piercings. Good luck and be well!
