I have seen Dr. Hughes since 1987. He has helped me keep my skin in the best shape by using Renova, Zinc Sunscreen every day as well as chemical peels, botox and fillers. I trust Dr. Hughes completely and have not found a Dermatologist of his caliber in any of the three states I have lived and I'm most grateful for his vast knowledge.
pre-cancer
Went to Doctor Hughes to remove some spider veins from my nose. I believe the specific type of laser used was a lyra i nd yag. I have tried many other lasers but had no success, however this is the first laser I have used that actually resulted in my veins darkening and looking worse. Additionally this procedure was more harsh than the other laser treatments I've had. It was the only one which resulted in scabbing which did dissapear after some time, however some scarring was left at the base of my nostril, making it appear darker, and I believe this may be permanent as it has not cleared up after two months.
Dermal fillers create beautiful "nose jobs" with saddle deformities or nasal atrophy from surgery. This is an inexpensive office procedure. But your nose needs removal of tissue, so you are a surgical candidate.
If you have pseudofolliculitis barbae (ingrown hairs) laser hair removal would be helpful. It would cause temporary baldness, but after one treatment session, most of the hair would regrow.
A professional treated laser hair removal site ordinarily does not require intervention for 30 days. Then, depending on location, some hair will start to grow back. At that time, mechanical (tweezing or waxing) or chemical (depilatory creams) hair removal may be safely done.
Cherry angiomas are common benign vascular tumors that are cosmetically a problem. The 595nm pulsed dye laser (Candela Vbeam Perfecta) is the ideal tool for non-scarring resolution of these lesions. They can be ablated at a rate of one every 2 seconds, so large numbers can be efficiently removed.
You may be suffering from hidradinitis suppurativa. Hidradinitis is an acne-related condition that occurs in the underarms, groin and perineum. Laser hair removal is an effective additional treatment, along with traditional acne regimens and intralesional steroid injections. For darker skin, the long-pulsed Nd:YAG laser (Lyra-i) is the only safe hair removal laser. See your dermatologist for diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
