Acne scars, moles as i age.Updated on 16 May 2011:I am extremely satisfied with my Fraxel proceedure. Did it hurt? heck yeah, did it swell? yes but keeping the cold packs on my face for 2 days and a fan in my face brought the swelling way down. My biggest complaint is the nasty cream you have to wear, it's greasy, heavy & gross but overall my results have been amazing. Dr. Gashri went light my 1st procedure to be safe & sure of my skins reaction. The 2nd procedure he went a bit heavier causing the pain & recovery time to exceed the previous procedure. Fraxel has taken 8 years off my fce, too much sun and acne caused discoloration and scars. I would definetly do it again. I have read other postings about pain, swelling, acne, after effects... I am curious to know how high the machine was set, so many variables and a persons skin reaction. My husband also had 2 Fraxel procedures, Dr Gashri gave him a deeper treatment than mine since his sun and scar damage was more severe than mine had been. My husband did not have any of the adverse reactions either. In fact, he is scheduling his 3rd Fraxel. He is 60 and he looks to be 50-55yrs old.
skin discoloration, age spots, light acne scaring - 1st treatment slight improvement, 2nd treatment people say i look 10 years younger. Just wanted to wake up in the morning without havng to put make-up on before the family woke up.
Doctor is nice but rushed. Treatment for cyst, left a very dark scar and ignored after calling. Treatment for capillaries and little blood spots on face, worked on spots but veins were and are actually worse. Face painfully swelled up and bruised badly, skin had pigment change after it went down which also took very long time. Called several times and was told to ice it and take Advil. Thanks. Now I seriously look awful without makeup, pigmented and broken capillaries make me look older and worn. I am so upset every morning I look at myself and pray it heals. But nothing. I have tried gentle creams and retin a cause I'm terrified to do anything and make it worse. He did fillers for a relative and after 3 weeks it looked like it started to go away and by 5 weeks it was like nothing had happened. Waste of money and very disappointed. Calls went ignored and they even tried to double bill me and insurance for cyst. Shady in my opinion. Office is clean and nice, staff is nice but depends on who you speak with, billing is not great and phone calls are like playing tag. I don't recommend castle dermatology.
Radiesse, which is Calcium Hydroxyapetite is a relatively inert substance with very rare chance of an allergic reaction. The only issues after treatment would be the potential swelling and bruising. There is a rather dull pain associated with the treatment for the first day as well which is very minor. To minimize the bruising and swelling, patient is recommended to avoid any blood thinners, which include aspirin, coumadin, plavix in addition to fish oil and vitamin E. It is also recommended to start taking Arnica few days before and after the treatment. Icing the treated area immediately after and applying the arnicare cream is also very effective in avoiding the swelling and the bruising.
As you know, Basal Cell Cancer, even though not an aggressive tumor by any means, is still a cancer. Nodular BCC by defnition could be extending vertically and deep in addition to the outside periphery. Mohs surgery could remove the cancer cells entirely while sparing the uninvolved skin. If the cancer is in fact only 2mm, the potential scar and recovery could be very minimal and should not interfere with your daily activities. However, if the cancer is allowed to progress and get bigger, it would need more removal of tissue with result of a potentially larger scar.
Botox is usually priced per unit or area. A fair and comparative way would be finding out the number of units required. Usually between the eyebrows takes about 20-25 units, forehead takes about 10-20 units and crows feet takes about 20 to 40 units. The average price per unit ranges from 8 to 15. I would question who is doing the actualy injection and their experience when choosing the office and not just go based on the lower price.
Laser Hair Removal generally works really well for pigmented hair. Electrolysis is only recommended for hair that does not respond to laser such as blonde or gray hair. I am not a fan of IPL lasers as the number of required treatments are significantly higher and the specific energy level is not readily obtained. As for the laser hair removal, the two best lasers are the ones using Alexandrite laser and Diode lasers, most well known of them are the Gentlelase system and Lightsheer system. There are however several other lasers now available with the same basic technology but added advantages such as vacuum assisted ones and combination lasers.
Just remember, for every one person that seems obvious that "has had work done" on her lips, there are probabely 10s other out there that have had their lips augmented but is so natural looking that you can't tell! The trick with lip injections is using the appropriate product and proper technique. As far as products, my favorite one for the lips is Juvederm Ultra for the upper lip and Ultra plus for the lower lip. The key is knowing the less is better. If you think you didn't get enough, I usually save the syringe and do touch ups in two weeks for my patients at no extra charge. That way, you can ensure that your lips are exactly to your liking and can go around with luscious but yet natural lips!
