Hi Hayley We are sorry to hear that your spacer has grown into the gums. This however can easily be taken care of by your orthodontist. I suggest calling your orthodontist office and having them take care of this for you. This is not a difficult fix and following removal of the spacer try warm salt water rinses to help with any inflammation in the gum area. We hope this helps!
I am sorry to hear your aligners are not fitting. I highly recommend calling your doctor and sharing your concerns. It is suggested by invisalign to wear aligners anywhere from 22-24 hours continue with chewies ( compress chewies 10-15 seconds doing this for 2-5 minutes several times throughout the day). You can always wear your aligners more days as prescribed by your doctor. All the best, Dr. Paul J. Styrt DMD,MPH, MS
When the aligner is not fitting properly or seating in a certain area it is always best to call your doctor and communicate your concern. With that being said, we suggest to wear 22 - 24 hours using "chewies" in the area of concern several times throughout the day. Proper use of chewies is to compress 10-15 seconds and 2-5 minutes repeat as many times throughout the day. If you need to go ten days in aligners to ensure proper fit that is alright. It will never hurt to wear them more days and more hours as opposed to less. Hopefully this helps wit your concern of proper fitting of aligners. All the best, Dr. Paul J. Styrt DMD,MPH,MS
We are sorry to hear you are uncomfortable! To help ease your discomfort rinse with warm salt water rinses (without aligners in) several times (at least 4 times) through out the day. * one table spoon of salt in 8 oz glass of warm water If you are able to pinpoint where the aligner is causing irritation and you feel comfortable doing this, you can take an emery board (nail file) and carefully smooth the area using the rough side of the emery board first and then go back over that area with the smooth side of the emery board. I hope that this helps with your concern and discomfort from your aligners. Best, Dr. Paul J. Styrt, DMD,MPH, MS
