I have an crazy amount of spider veins & sun damage poikiloderma on my neck and chest area. I have had two rounds on neck & chest so far by 2 different doctors. The first was at Bentkover facial plastic surgery and let me say, stay clear of that practice. Their Vbeam isnt even at their own office. Not very professional. So after they canceled my 2nd appoint at the last minute, I did more research and found Kraus Dermatology in Wellesley Hills, MA. What a difference. Now to the procedure. It hurts, but im tattooed and opted w/out the numbing cream. Yes, I was puffy afterwards, Ice as soon as possible and get arnica cream...Keep icing on & off for the day. Yes, I have bars on my chest, stripes really, areas that need more treatment vs the areas that the treatment worked. Going in for my 3rd treatment in a few weeks. You get what you pay for & dont ever let anyone but a Dr. with credentials work on you. Otherwise I believe you are asking for trouble. Hope this helped. Updated on 24 Mar 2016: V beam helped tone down the red. It does not remove it completely. I've been careful with any and all sun exposure since treatment. Not sure this is procedure is worth spending more money on to eradicate all the left over spider nevi I have on my chest area. I had a total of 3 treatments.
I agree that the Vbeam laser does not affect the longevity of Hyaluronic acid fillers. One useful application of the Zvbeam is the treating of bruising after filler injection. If a patient bruises after hyaluronic acid injection, I have them return the next day for Vbeam and find the bruising resolves much faster.
Vbeam works beautifully for the treatment of rosacea associated redness. Insurance coverage varies by state and insurer. Unfortunately, in Massachusetts, where I practice I have yet to have an insurance company cover this treatment. Most patients who pay for the procedure out of pocket feel it is worth the investment.
Vbeam is often effective at reducing the redness associated with keloid scars. I often recommend that patients do Vbeam in conjunction with injections of a steroid locally to help flatten the keloid as well.
In my experience, VBeam works beautifully for blood vessels on the side of the nose. I do advise patients, however, that multiple treatments are recommended for optimal results. I often find 2-3 treatments are sufficient.
Both the larger and smaller handpieces for the Zeltiq often provide excellent results. The advantage of using the larger handpiece is that the treatment lasts for a shorter period of time. Many patients however, complain that the larger handpiece is more uncomfortable. In the majority of my patients, I recommend treating the lower abdomen with 2 smaller applications.
