It looks like is a small chip and nothing else is compromised. As small as it seems, i would have a cosmetic dentist place a bonding or filling. It will look better instead of adjusting the chip , also you will have to adjust the adjacent tooth to make it to match if you decide to file it down.Once the bonding is done, avoid biting into food to make it last, good luck!
In your case, something conservative like teeth bonding, also known as dental bonding, is a quick, safe, and incredibly effective way to address your chipped tooth. Unlike other dental restorations, teeth bonding can be applied, cured, and finished within a single office visit. When cared for properly, teeth bonding is capable of lasting for several years before needing to be reapplied. The cost for it varies but it could be from $150-280, every dental office is different. You can also consider porcelain veneer, this thin piece of ceramic which bond to your tooth are most commonly used for brightening teeth, enhancing your smile, and covering any unsightly discoloration. It's more costly, but it does not stain or changes color like bonding could.
Porcelain veneers are tiny shells of dental porcelain which get bonded to the front surface of your teeth to improve their appearance. Veneers can be used to address a wide range of smile imperfections, before you make any decisions consult with a skill cosmetic dentist that specializes in TMJ and that have been awarded and done many cases. Seeing an orthodontist can also help give you some feedback and help you with your decision.
Before you start any treatment i would write down exactly your desire goals and go over those with your cosmetic dentist. Any porcelain work (crowns, veneers, inlays, onlays) do not whiten. Since you need a root canal , the tooth getting treatment on will need a crown on it. For best aesthetics results most cosmetic dentist do a veneer on the adjacent tooth, specially if we are talking about the front teeth. If you want your porcelain restorations to look white and bright you might consider doing more whitening , or try other types of whitening. Porcelain Veneers may be the best whitening option if you have teeth that are either naturally grey or yellow, have thin enamel, or have stains that are part of the enamel or deeper layers of the tooth. Veneers are also a good option if you are looking to correct other problems with your smile, such as chipped, crooked, gapped, or misshapen teeth.Other times, it might be good to combine the two procedures. If, for example, you have a tooth that is discolored due to trauma or developmental irregularities, you might have your teeth whitened and then have that tooth veneered to match the shade of your other teeth.A dental crown is a tooth-saving procedure that can help you preserve your tooth and your attractive, healthy smile. If you have a fractured, worn, or decayed tooth that is weakened and in danger of failing, a dental crown can preserve it, restoring strength, functionality, and beauty to the damaged tooth.
Thanks for the photos , always helpful! The best recommendation will be to consult with an orthodontist or a dentist that has a high reputation in cosmetic/aesthetics cases. Most of the orthodontist do not charge for their consultation, at least you will know all of your options.
