It is difficult to evaluate without seeing all the face, because the proportions of the face is one of the most important things for aesthetic perception. But seems like the problem is the shortness of your nose, which can be solved with a rhinoplasty with extension grafts. This will result in a longer and less up-tilted nose and naso-labial space will look shorter

I would like to reduce the space between my mouth and nose in order to improve my face proportion. The reason the space is too large is because my nose is too short for my face, which is noticeable from both my side profile and also from the front because you can see my nostrils. I would like some advice as I'm not sure whether I need to do both and if so, in which order, or if one procedure is enough.

Your nose has the potential to achieve your dream nose. Based on the photos you’ve attached, a hump removal and redefining the tip may achieve a more feminine and cuter nose as you wish. Still it is a surgery and you should discuss all the details with your surgeon before the operation. Istanbul is a good choice to get a rhinoplasty, Best luck!

You have reason to want to preserve your naturally beautiful tip. What makes us to think a nose is beautiful is usually the odds of the nose to the face, the position and angle of the tip and the projection of the nose. From what I see, i can tell you have nice angles and position of your tip. But I must say, when we remove the dorsal hump the position and projection of the tip relatively changes and might not seem as beautiful as before. That’s why you should discuss the details of the surgery with your surgeon for an individualised rhinoplasty, and preserve what you like with your nose.

Hi there, I'm seriously considering getting a rhinoplasty, and have some reservations. What I want out of a rhinoplasty is a more refined profile. I really do not want a slope or something that looks obviously augmented. I really like the front view of my nose and don't want it to be affected by the surgery (not sure if that is possible) I also don't want my bridge to appear any wider (closed rhinoplasty).

That’s correct, when we perform a rhinoplasty usually we need cartilage material to reshape the nose, and septal cartilage is the best material to use in rhinoplasties. That must be the reason that your surgeon has sent you that quote. We usually ask for a consent for septoplasty, too, to our patients before a rhinoplasty.

I recently had a rhinoplasty consultation for an initial rhinoplasty for myself. I have a projected dorsal hump and a droopy tip. I do not have any breathing issues, broken nose, crooked nose, or any other issues with my nose. After my consultation, the office sent a quote for a septoplasty and when I asked why, the doctor responded that ALL rhinoplasties require a change with some type of cartilage and septal cartilage is ideal as it is inn the surgical site. Is this normal?

Rhinoplasty versus Septoplasty for a dorsal hump and droopy tip?

Rhinoplasty is one of the most common surgeries performed especially for the last decades, therefore sometimes additional procedures might be needed such as fillers, steroid injections or revision rhinoplasty surgeries. Seems like you have a residual bump, and if steroid injection did not work, and if you are still not satisfied with the appereance of your nose, a revision rhinoplasty might be considered. Revision rhinoplasty is known as a more difficult and complicated surgery compared to a primary one, but sometimes it is the best solution.

I had my initial rhinoplasty in December of 2019 because I wasn’t pleased with the hooked appearance of my nose which was further compounded by a bump. 6 months in I wasn’t happy with the projection of my tip, and my nose still had a bump that my surgeon tried resolving with several steroid injections. The surgeons then recommended that I undergo a revision rhinoplasty to elevate the tip and alter the projection. Now, a year in, my nose has a bump and looks like my old natural nose.

Hello, the answer is yes, but you should think about your expectations thoroughly and discuss them with your surgeon. In cases with thick-bulbous skin it might not be possible to achieve a very small and lifted nose, but as it is seen in the pictures you also have a droopy tip and wide lower lateral cartilages and wide alar base with a small hump. These problems can be fixed with a surgery, which will make the nose look smaller and lifted. Again, i must say, surgery's success is limited when it comes to thick skin. I think if you consider the surgery having this information, you may benefit the surgery.

I have quite thick skinned nose, and my tip is very wide and bulbous. I was wondering if I would be able to make my nose straighter and defined, with my tip made smaller and lifted.

It is hard to tell without examination, but breathing problems sometimes can be fixed with a rhinoplasty surgery. If the reason is a deviated septum or valve collapse, or tirbunate hipertrophy, a septo-rhinoplasty procedure might help. Looking at the photos, it can be said that your tip support is weak, which can cause breathing problems and is fixed with rhinoplasty procedure, in which we use cartilages to support the septum and lower cartilages. My nose is mishapen and the top flattens when I press on it. I have always had difficulty breathing due to the shape of my nose. What intervention do I need to fix this and can the look of my nose be improved?

2, most likely... You have a short nose with probably low radix and wide alar wings, like Asian fenotype. we usually prefer to use cartilages and soft tissue to build a more defined dorsum and tip, but if the skin of the patient is too thick, and the cartilages are weak, achieving a nose like 1st or 3rd photos may not be possib To provide a more defined tip and stronger dorsum, rib cartilage can be used, which gives us a better chance to reconstruct bony-cartilagenous structure. thanks for the question...

Hello, I can say that you are a good candidate for a septo/rhinoplasty surgery by looking at the photos you've shared. Satisfying results can be achieved by meticulous work. The most challenging part, I'd say, is the deviated nose and I can see that the cartilagenous part of the nose is slightly deviated and this problem could be solved by a septoplasty and spreader grafts. Your skin is not too thin, but around the nasal bones it seems thinner, so it might show minor irregularities after the operation. Osteotomies could be done with an ultrasonic piezo device,which gives us the chance to reduce the risk for reshaping thin nasal bones, with thinner skin. The projection of the nose can be reduced, and the hanging columella can be solved with reshaping the lower lateral cartilages of the nose, with cephalic resection of lower lateral cartilages and grafting. The rotation of the nose should also be changed, depending on the patients will. The healing process depends on the patient and the technique, but it is usually between 3-6 months, but can to take up to 1 year.

Hello, I must say that we never guarantee a particular nose to a patient, but the photos of the preferred nose that the patient shows us always gives us an idea about the expectations of the patient. As I can see from your photos you have a wide nose with a thick skin and I am guessing that is what bothers you. We can narrow your dorsum with lateral osteotomies and reshape the cartilage structure. What I believe is we can achieve satisfying results, but again, the photo of the nose you attached should not be your goal, the goal must be your own nose with a better shape.

Hey, I’m 22 looking to get rhinoplasty, I have a bulbous tip and would like it to be more defined. I'm looking to narrow my bridge and make my nose smaller. I have included pictures of how I would like my nose to look. I'm wondering if it is possible to get similar results with my current nose. Thank you.
