Dr. Al-Misky is an outstanding human being and doctor. I’ve been going to her for years, and she always takes the time to really listen before treatments. Her bedside manner is great, and the results speak for themselves.
I came to Dr. Al-Misky to treat the spider veins on my legs. With my strong genetic predisposition and after having two children, my legs were covered with ugly veins. I was at the point were I felt embarrassed to wear a bathing suit or skirt in public because they were so unsightly. Dr. Al-Misky evaluated my condition using sonogram technology and was able to tell me the best plan of attack for my problem. Over the course of a few months with the use of injections to collapse the veins , my legs now look amazing! I feel so much more confident. Dr. Al-Misky is professional, extremely knowledgable, warm and friendly. Even though my treatment required the repetitive use of injections, Dr. Al-Misky's gentle hand ensured minimal pain and discomfort. The office environment is clean and relaxed, and her staff is friendly and efficient. I couldn't have had a better experience.
The key to treating these is finding the root source of these tiny capillaries. Unlike the tiny capillaries on the side of the nose, these ones have to overcome the force of gravity to return the blood. It is more complicated to treat these and I can understand your frustration. A thorough ultrasound done by the treating physician would help to understand the cause of these and lead you to the best treatment options. To optimize the prevention of these, I would recommend focusing on a healthy diet that has lots of fruits and vegetables and exercise to keep your legs strong and promote good blood return. Also, you need to consider that these tiny capillaries are stimulated by our own estrogen and also exogenous hormones such as oral contraceptions or hormone replacement therapy. There is no singular proven treatment that can eliminate these as there are multiple causes of these capillaries, but we can optimize our lifestyle and treatments to keep them in check.
Breast veins may become more prominent after augmentation, and I would recommend waiting until after your breast surgery to treat the veins. My preferred method to treat these veins is with sclerotherapy. They can easily be treated with a few injections that are well tolerated. To get great results, it is not unusual to treat the same areas over 2-3 visits. The results are beautiful, long lasting, and well worth pursuing. Cost varies by location and expertise of the injector. Ousaima Al-Misky, MD
