Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) procedures are commonly misconstrued as "treating everything" and I have had patients ask if IPL therapy will "cure" the most unusual things. IPL treatment has specifically been studied in patients with acne and patients who suffer from rosacea, with clinically significant results in both of those patient populations. It's additional benefits can be defined as treating vascular issues/ red vessels, hyperpigmentation/sun damage and it also improves the texture of your skin by causing the skin's cells to produce more collagen and build elastin fibers. Our patients do anecdotally report an "immediate" (within a week) improvement in their "tone" and "texture" and often report "glowing" a few days after procedure. Hope this helps!
In our office, we perform many IPL procedures each week. While considered a "lunchtime" treatment for some patients, with very minimal swelling, redness, or increased hyperpigmentation, other patients have a more dramatic response. We always advise patients to prepare for at least 24-48 hours of slight edema (swelling) and that they should anticipate redness for the remainder of the treatment day. We advise patients with a lot of sundamage/ hyperpigmentation that they will likely have "crusting" of their pigmented spots within 24 hours post procedure to 4 days post procedure. In general, day 5 is when the skin starts to glow and the real benefits of IPL therapy are seen.
If the nose if slightly broken, there actually aren't very many symptoms at all. There may be swelling, bleeding immediately following the injury, combined with possible difficulty breathing through the nose. Because of the swelling immediately after the break, the swelling may disguise the deformity and the injury will become more obvious in the weeks to come. An X-Ray may be helpful in diagnosing the actual break/ injury. It is best to consult your surgeon as quickly as possible after the injury, so that the nose doesn't heal in place and need to be re-broken during the repair.
