Dr Delucia is a wonderful surgeon. He is decisive and organized, compassionate and sensitive, dedicated to his patients, kind and thoughtful. I was always comfortable in his presence. He is an artist in the OR. I highly recommend him.
Surgery went well overall, he explained the whole surgery procedure. He told me my belly button might come out darker since I'm a light olive completion but he said nothing to worry about. I was eager and a bit anxious. Day before surgery I had nothing to drink or eat after midnight I believe. I went to CVS to buy a special antibacterial soap to prevent any germs, got a new towel and pat dried myself. I removed all nail polish and jewelry. Day of surgery filled out some quick paperwork and went in for vitals. I met the anesthesiologist he was nice. Went over a few things then went out all I remember was getting up with a dried throat and very thirsty. I stood in the hospital 24 hours so they could monitor me. They gave me pain meds and when discharged I also had prescriptions for meds. My scar was pretty good and healed up pretty fast. You definitely need someone to help you going to the rest room, getting dressed, and you need to walk to prevent blood clots. You definitely need a stool softener. In 2 weeks I was fully able to sit. You have to empty and keep your drains clean. Also write down the drainage amount from the drains. I didn't like how my belly button came out. I think he could of done better. I've seen doctors do a better job on belly buttons. Then he left my waist with raised up scars. Very disappointed.
