Bone graft after failed implant? (photos)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
From the radiographs presented, the implant is much too narrow and is not deep enough to be fully embedded in solid bone.  My recommendation is to get a second opinion, have a graft with membrane placed until the tissues (hard and soft) heal properly, then have a longer implant with a wider diameter properly placed.  I doubt if the situation that you presented were ever to heal, more than likely it would be a prosthetic nightmare for the restoring dentist and another nightmare for you to maintain it and it would be guaranteed to fail.

Good luck and keep us informed.

Would gum contouring or crown lengthening to one tooth make my gum line and front teeth look more even? (Photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Orthodontic treatment can help in the proper alignment of teeth and can bring your teeth into a better occlusion or bite relationship.  If after the completion of treatment there are esthetic concerns or esthetic imperfections, you should seek an esthetic evaluation by your restorative dentists.  Often times, a quick recontouring of your gums by a dental laser or a more invasive crown lengthening procedure may suffice.  Sometimes tooth bonding or porcelain veneers serve as an excellent esthetic option if orthodontics cannot provide the final esthetic outcome.

Is it normal for gums to be sore and tender after placement of crown over implant?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
It is not uncommon for your gums to be sore immediately after having a crown placed over an implant.  Even if there was no pain before the permanent crown was placed, the gum tissues need to adapt to the shape of the new crown and sometimes, this can cause discomfort for a day or two.  Remember before your crown was placed, either you had a temporary or a healing abutment over the implant.  Very rarely are the dimensions of your temp or healing abutment the same as your permanent crown.  As a result, sometimes your gum tissues have to be cut either surgically or with a laser to make your new crown fit.  This can cause discomfort also.  You should follow up with an appointment to your dentist after notifying the office of your discomfort and concerns.  I hope this help and please keep us informed.

Can fillings be done on the back of lateral incisor near the gumline where cavity formed?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Yes, tooth colored fillings can be placed at the back of lateral incisors near the gumline in order to fill cavities.  Tooth colored bonding is technique sensitive so the dentist must be careful not to have the filling and receptor site area get contaminated with either blood or saliva.  The area must be isolated and sometimes if the cavity is below the gumline, we use our Diode laser to clear out the soft tissue in order to have the filling rest on a solid and visible foundation.

How Long After Teeth Whitening Can I Eat Foods That May Stain?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
After our patients receive Professional Tooth Whitening, either in-office or take-home, we recommend that they refrain from foods and beverages that might stain their teeth.  We recommend waiting 48 hours as this is plenty of time for teeth to rehydrate.  We also recommend immediately expectorating or rinsing with water after drinking and eating these foods that stain.

I don't have terrible teeth but I want the top and bottom straightened. Is invisalign good for me? (photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
It would be hard to give a definitive answer without doing an actual clinical exam. From the 3 photos submitted, it appears that you might be a really good candidate for Invisalign. If you are, then you will be able to achieve the functional and esthetic result you are asking for. It would be best to make an appointment with an Invisalign dentist who can do a ClinCheck and provide some answers as far as cost and length of treatment.

I got my front tooth dental implant two months ago and I'm not happy with the color and shape . What are my options? (Photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
The esthetics of front teeth are extremely challenging but not impossible. The front two central incisors should dominate your smile and should be mirror images if possible. A custom shade is often required especially if only 1 tooth is being done to match the other. You and your dentist need to communicate with the dental laboratory to give the best and most realistic outcome. Though your case is challinging, it is not impossible and should defitely be redone. Good luck and tell us the final outcome of your case.

is there any difference between going to the dentist for teeth whitening and a salon apart from the price?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
I cannot understand why a person would go to a salon for teeth whitening.  Teeth whitening is a dental procedure and as such should be performed by a licensed dental professional.  Would you go to your car mechanic to get a heart transplant?  I don't mean to be rude but it is not wise to be penny wise and pound foolish.  Get your teeth treated at a dental facility by a licensed dental professional.

Receding Gums at 20 what can I do? (photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Without proper x-rays and without doing a clinical exam, it is very difficult to tell the source of your periodontal problem. The photograph attached, though slightly blurry shows gingival inflammation or gingivitis. Any treatment for your condition should begin witha deep periodontal scaling. Next I would evaluate the muscle attachment from the lower lip to the gingiva. This muscle attachment could be the source of your problem and if it is, a frenectomy should be performed. Please let us know how things work out

Any ideas why I would have pain in gum post one year of root canal. The same pain in the gum that was there pre- root canal?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Without x-rays and without doing a comprehensive exam, it is hard to make a diagnosis.  I have a suspicion hat your tooth is cracked and could be non-restorable.  You should not be in pain.  Good luck and keep us informed.

I Finally Can Chew & Speak Properly - New York, NY

Before going to Dr Mobilia, I had severe problems with my denture. I could not eat properly, not speak properly and the denture would fall down. When I met Dr Mobilia for the consultation, I knew he could help me out right away. I now have whats called a Prettau Bridge that permanently stays in. I can now taste food because this bridge doesn't have a palate. It looks and feels so great. My friends say I look healthier because even my face looks much better since I don't have that denture look. I feel better about myself and thanks to Dr Mobilia for his great work. I recommend him wherever I go.

No More Fear, I Can Now Relax at the Dentist - New York, NY

If you are as apprehensive as I was about going to the dentist, then I have a secret that I must share with you. The office of Dr Nick Mobilia is a very caring and patient friendly office that helps you relax and feel comfortable about your dental work. Dr Mobilia answers your questions as does the staff so you never have to be embarrassed about your problems. My teeth were a mess from ugly old crowns and implant work done a few years ago by someone else. Dr Mobilia did a fabulous job in removing the old work and putt in a new bridge that gave me my old smile back. My front teeth look really really great and I get compliments about it. Now I can smile with confidence and can’t believe I waited all these years to get the proper dental work done. My insurance was all processed and I had a pretty good experience. Take it from a scaredy cat like me, Dr Mobilia is the best dentist ever for apprehensive patients.
