Thanks for your question. Although a polly beak formation cannot be ruled out, at 3,5 wks following a rhinoplasty, the nose can be still swollen. Swelling of the skin and swelling related to fluid retention under the skin can require months to resolve completely. The tip of the nose is the most gravity dependent and therefore the part where the swelling will persist the longest. Express your surgeon your concerns and questions and give it some time. Even if a revision should be needed you should wait a minimum of 6 monts up to 1 year for optimal results. This is the time needed for the tissues to completely heal and soften. I wish you gool luck- Prof. Dr. med, Nektarios Sinis.
A compression garment is important for 6 wks 24/7 after liposuction in order to ensure proper healing and avoid oedematous accumulations. If you cannot contact your surgeon or another board certified plastic surgeon that could possibly provide you such a garment, a simple temporary sufficient solution would be to wear an abdominal shaper girdle that can be be found at every department store. Avoid bathing, swimming, sauna, steam room and hot tub use for 6 wks, avoid alcoholic beverages for 4 wks. Possible swelling can be reduced through lymphatic drainage. Wish you a smooth recovery , Prof. Dr. med. Nektarios Sinis.
