I had a treatment done at Dr. Rolnik's office and it went great. She is a true professional and knows her business, equipment and so many different ways to treat your issues. She really listens to what you want the end result to be and she figures out the most effective way to get to that result; it was a great experience and I highly recommend going to her. Give her a try, you won't be disappointed.
I tried Contoura on my abdomen to tighten loose skin from my 2 pregnancies and to help shrink fat from the area. I have to say that it works! My skin is tighter and the area is smaller. It’s easy, out patient, and requires no downtime. Bikini season is upon us and I’ll be rocking mine this summer!
Dr. Rolnik is amazing in every way. She is so positive and such a good listener that it is easy work with her. She is a brilliant AND caring physician. I have had some difficult interactions in the past with some medical professionals which has left skeptical and wary. Dr. Rolnik inspires trust & confidence.
Most pens will go to a depth of 2mm if treatment is done by a physician. There a newer devices that can go 4mm but I have found that 2mm is usually sufficient to achieve the results desired - less wrinkles, better skin tone and reduction of mild scarring. Best of luck to you.
If you are looking for the most bang for your buck definitely pay the extra cost to have the PRP with microneedling. You will stimulate more collagen and enhance skin healing using both together. Depending on your age I recommend a series of 3 spaces about 6 weeks apart (a bit longer for older skin to allow more collagen production between therapies). Most patients have redness the day of the procedure but it's mostly resolved by the following day - add some tinted SPF moisturizer next day! I think you will be happy with your results. Be happy and well!
That's an unusual response to PRP. It would be worth checking in with your primary doctor to make sure your thyroid and other labs are normal. Hypothyroid can cause dry skin but it's unusual for you to have limited sebum. Your overall hydration level matters so be sure to drink water throughout your day (aim for about 80-90 ounces). In time I suspect your oil production will return unless there is an underlying cause that your primary doctor can assess. For now, hydrate and use a good moisturizer! Good luck!
There are various options to tighten skin. Radiofrequency heat can be applied just for skin tightening with the Plus handheld device on the Contoura machine. If there is some fat that can be pinched, the BodyFx handheld device can be used to kill up to 30% of the underlying fat while simultaneously tightening your skin but if there is limited fat, just addressing the skin laxity would be your best option. Best of luck finding your solution!
I personally have had both Sculpsure and BodyFX treatments. BodyFX was more effective for my areas of concern so I purchased that device. As the other physicians stated the way each device reduces fat is different - Sculpsure uses laser energy and BodyFX uses radiofrequency to generate heat to kill the fat cells. I offer BodyFX at my practice because it provides both collagen stimulation to tighten skin plus fat reduction in localized areas with medical studies to support those both benefits. No two bodies are the same and trouble areas come in different shapes. The Sculpsure treatment uses a rectangular pad that is only minimally modifiable to your area of concern. In contrast, the BodyFX handheld device is smaller and can follow the curves of your body so if your area of concern is the outer thigh or abdomen for instance, then the BodyFX can specifically follow the shape of the area (such as an oval or circle). In the 20 years I've practiced medicine I have never seen a person with a rectangular area to body contour!
