Vaginoplasty and perinialplasty - honest with my treatment plan Vaginoplasty
5 days post-op
I'm so glad I found Dr. Hardas. Im a 46yo mom of 7 and am done having kids so I wanted a 2nd opinion to remove some "extra skin/tissue" that was due to a very fast birth /tearing /and bad repair job after that birth. It bothered me esthetically because it looked like 2 worms were hanging out of my lady so I was self conscious and physically it was starting to get annoying with intercourse. Anyway, I was also having dryness and sensitivity/lack of sensation and vaginal tone laxity for the past at least 10 years
Although my husband didn't have any complaints, I was not enjoying our sex life as much anymore but too embarrassed to tell him or afraid he would think it was "his problem". Our youngest is 5 and I've already had phase one and 2 of "mommy makeover" so it was time to take care of the dreaded phase 3, downstairs issues. My appointment with Dr. Hardas was very non-pressure and eye opening to my issues. She had me hold a mirror and showed me exactly where my problems stemmed from. Apparently I had torn my perineum all the way to my rectum and the muscle separation that occurred inside my vaginal wall was very pronounced...hence the laxity and tone issues. I had no idea my lady was so wrecked! But it explained so much! I just thought I was "normal" post baby body and no other gyno/ob over the years of several, explained to me that I may want to get "repaired" down there after being done with babies. I was always told I didn't tear and had one episiotomy with my 2nd child so I had no idea I had such an un naturally wide opening. I was just made to feel like everything was normal and I just chalked it up to getting older and it was part of "being a mom/woman". Enter Dr. Hardas, very quick wait, got right to the exam and she told me she could fix it all and more if I wanted. After looking in the mirror with her as she explained my situation I not only felt comfortable that she knew what she was talking about, but that she was honest with my treatment plan. I felt a sigh of relief that there were reasons and answers and solutions to my sexual health and that I didn't need to live a mediocre sex life or" pretend" in the bed anymore. She was honest about recovery and cost was very comparable if not lower than the national average for these two procedures. She also offered the "O-shot" but I decided to wait on that to see if the procedures helped first. I could always get that later. It sounds like it will also help my situation though too so I'm looking forward to trying it in the future as I head towards peri-menopause. Everyone at the office is kind and approachable and explained everything thoroughly. I scheduled my surgery for a week later. I was very nervous about the pain but I was given lots reassurance and lots of meds to help me relax and not feel anything too painful. And I didn't. The worst poke as I was being numbed up felt no worse than getting botox or filler. The 2nd worse was the pain shot in the butt before she started that felt no worse than getting a vaccine. As she started working I relaxed and realized it wasn't going to hurt and I actually fell asleep! It took about 1.5 hours on the table. They gave me my first meds after and my friend drove me home. I slept until evening took more meds and went back to sleep. Day 2 was rough...pain started to kick in and hard to get comfortable or walk around. Day 3-4 sutures started to become more noticeable and feels like a cactus on fire dipped in hot sauce up inside my lady...nights are hard to get comfy and pain meds help, ice packs help. Day 5 (today) morning pain is subsiding but more im on my feet the worse it is. Throbbing Pain down my legs and lower back/butt. Had a migraine. Now feels like I have a handful of beach sand up inside, that is covered in fire ants. This sucks. Im trying not to focus on the recovery and look to the future. Im trying to rest and distract myself from the discomfort but I hope this gets better real quick. I went in knowing it was not going to be a picnic and Dr. Hardas was honest about it. Im still glad I did it. I'm looking forward to the day my husband and I can "lose our virginity" together lol, and our sex life can get back to the "before kids" Era. I will keep you posted as I recover from week to week follow ups. Fingers crossed. 1 week almost down.
