Hi @stanle, You've had some bad luck there, sorry to hear that. Pure bad luck is possible, but there may have also been procedural aspects that led to this - it's impossible to know over the internet, but perhaps this is something the dentist or surgeon can discuss with you. Sometimes it may be useful to graft first and then after a few months of maturation, the dental implant, depending on the circumstances, if you have had previous failures. Of course, such advice can only be given after a full assessment of your situation. If an abscess has formed at the end of an implant, deep in the bone, it could be an indication that there was infection present dormant in the bone, that was not evident before, from a previous dental or implant infection. There may also be medical factors at play. I suggest that you seek a second opinion and new assessment from an experienced implant dentist, as there may be a lot to discuss to give you the best advice.
Hi, I suspect you have already had this managed by an experienced implant dentist by now, since your time of asking your question. If not, rest assured that as long as the All-on-4 implants are suitably positioned, the teeth can be removed, modified/corrected or even changed and re-inserted without much difficulty at all in experienced hands. All the best, hope you achieve an outcome you are pleased with.
Hi lady steph I assume that by osseous surgery you are referring to a bone grafting or regeneration procedure. How long you have to wait really depends on the nature and type of bone graft performed, and exactly what needs to be done next. It is common to wait 4-6 months, sometimes more, prior to implants being placed. I'm sure an experienced implant dentist or surgeon can advise you best after assessing the jaw bone, gum and your treatment requirements.
Hi Auntyjack By now you have probably had around 4 months pass from the time of your zygomatic implant placements and All-on-4 style of immediate teeth attachment. If so, pending professional assessment and advice, you should be able to have the teeth removed and modified/remodelled to create more optimal aesthetics for you. Sometimes when implants are restored with teeth the day after zygoma surgery, there may be swelling which interfered with a good assessment of your cosmetics, which can now be assessed more comprehensively. Even if your teeth were called permanent, if they were done the day after surgery then they would be made of a material that can usually be modified or upgraded to a design that allows optimal aesthetics and in your case, maybe increased upper tooth display (if appropriate pending assessment). Please note that it can also be quite normal to show lower teeth when you talk. Most people do, and as we get older we tend to show more of the lower teeth during speech. If you still feel you have unwanted wrinkles after the prosthetic implant teeth are potentially modified to their optimal state, then you can consider facial aesthetic treatments. It's important to get the dental foundation right first, as it supports the position of your lips. All the best! Please note: This is general advice only and you should get a professional assessment.
Hi lilly1818 Usually this shouldn't be cause for concern for a few days. Just make sure to call your dentist on Tuesday and they can replace the healing abutment. Sometimes over a few days, the gum may grow over the top of the implant, so they may need to excise a small piece of gum under local anaesthetic to get access to the implant and put the abutment back on. Enjoy the rest of the long weekend!
