I haven't been to the dentist in a long time and one of my crowns broke off. I had to go and get it fixed. Dr. Mina Levi used a new technique for making the crown - a 3D scanner which sends a video of my tooth directly to the dental lab. Very quick and easy, no need to wait two weeks for the new crown. It was worth it spending the money and the time in the dental office of Dr. Mina.
Hi, I am a big proponent of the minimally invasive dentistry therefore I really believe that natural teeth are the best. Veneers are always less invasive with saving a lot of natural tooth structure. Recently with the introduction of the no prep veneers the veneer options became even more conservative to a point that we don't have to remove and drill any of the existing tooth enamel. Some patients are good candidates for no prep veneers and for some cases only conventionally drilled veneers will work. In order to get a crown tooth has to be drilled completely which automatically means that 70% from the natural tooth will be lost. In some case the only options if to have a crown placed. Best way to tell if you are a candidate for minimally invasive veneers is to check with your dentist who will confirm the tooth shape, tooth shade, bite and tooth position before confirming if veneers or crowns have to be used. I hope this helps, Mina Levi DDS
The modern implant system does not require any downtime. With this being said you still might have some discomfort in the area where the implant was placed but this doesn't necessarily mean that you have to take a day off. Resuming normal eating and drinking will happen about a couple of days after the implant is placed. It might take slightly longer if bone graft or sinus lift were needed. I hope this helps. Best, Mina Levi DDS
The cost for dental implants can rage between $2000 and $5000 US dollars. The price ranges due to the amount of bone needed for the implant placement. For example if there is not enough bone we need to do a bone graft and this makes the procedure more expensive. Another good example is if the implant is planned to replace an upper missing tooth close to the sinus then there might be a need for a sinus lift which makes the price go up. Implants are a great alternative for dentures, they are not removable which eliminates the need to take them in and out of the mouth. Another good reason to get implants is to avoid drilling of the neighbor teeth if an dental bridge is planned. I hope this helps. Best regards, Mina Levi DDS
Hi Nikkid, Sorry to hear that you are experiencing pain after the tooth whitening procedure. The pain that some patients have after the in office whitening represent itself with what we call "zingers" - sharp pain in some teeth that comes and goes and lasts only for a couple of seconds. This pain will not be a permanent pain on those teeth, most likely it will go away 24 hours after the procedure. It is caused by the dryness of the natural teeth and 24 hours later the teeth will go back to normal. In the meanwhile we recommend patients to take pain medication which they normally use for headaches and also to avoid cold drinks. We dispense in the office a desensitizing gel called ACP gel. I hope this helps. Best regards, Mina Levi DDS
Hi there, thank you for the great question. The design of the Invisalign trays is such that the patient has to have at least 20-22 hours of wear in order for the system to work. Wearing them less than 20-22hours can compromise treatment results. I would not recommend Invisalign treatment to my patients until they are committed to a dull time wear. With this being said sometimes it can happen that on occasional days people don't have the full 20-22 hours and in this case I tell my patients to extend the trays interval by a couple of days. For example if the patient had a day with only 15 hours of wear I ask them to add one more day to their usual schedule. Also inform your treating dentist if there are any changes in the wear of the trays which can help with making important clinical decisions. Best of luck to you, Dr. Mina Levi
