As long as your vision is stable, moving forward with PRK or LASIK at your age is perfectly fine. There are no additional risk of doing the surgery now versus waiting a few more years if your vision is stable. For someone like you that is a high myope, there is a chance you will need an enhancement down the road, but that chance doesn't change by waiting. 

I would recommend scheduling an evaluation with an experienced LASIK surgeon in your area to ensure your vision has stablized before moving forward.

Most of my patients that are candidates for both PRK and LASIK prefer LASIK, because the healing process is shorter and more comfortable. However, if you have irregular astigmatism or significant dry eyes PRK may be the better option for you. Both procedures are considered low risk and the results will be very similar. 

The choice to proceed with vision correction surgery is up to your individual preferences. You should ask yourself some of the following questions:

• Do glasses interfere with my daily activities?
• Would life be easier or better if I didn't have to wear glasses?
• How often do glasses interfere with my activities? (sports, swimming, sunglasses, etc)

There are a few different reasons why your vision might be fluctuating after LASIK surgery. The most common causes are dryness and inflamation. The great news is that these are both temporary and can easily be treated with eye drops. I cannot say what is causing your fluctuation in vision without examining you, so your best course of action is to call the doctor that did your LASIK and schedule a follow-up visit. Be sure to tell the technician and the doctor your symptoms, so they can accurately assess your problem.
