I was very nervous going into this surgical experience. It's a big decision to choose to have a breast reduction, especially at 19 years old. I was referred to Dr. Novia by a by a friend of mine. Right from the get go he made my experience very comfortable. I went from a size DD (almost a DDD actually) to a small C cup. I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. Very minimal scaring and no loss of nipple feeling. He did a fantastic job! I have much less back pain now. Clothes fit me a lot better and I am much more confident, too! Also my posture has increased tremendously. I thought I wanted to go a lot smaller than a C but Dr. Novia strongly suggested that based on my body type that he thought a C would be very proportional and I'm very glad I listened to his judgement. He knows what he is doing! As for my age, a lot of people told me I was too young to have a surgery like this. But honestly I'm so glad I did it. My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner!
For many years I have been extremely unhappy about my large and very uneven breasts. I am extremely active and I was beginning to have a lot of discomfort while exercising and hiking. I was also beginning to have a lot more neck and shoulder pain. I am so glad I had the surgery; I no longer have discomfort or pain while exercising and I feel a lot better about how I look. I just feel amazing!!
Breast Reduction for pain, discomfort, rash. I had all the typical symptoms. I thought about having breast reduction surgery for several years all the while suffering with back, neck, and shoulder pain, rashes, and body image issues. I finally asked my family doctor for a referral. The whole process from consult to finish was done very timely. I am very happy I found such a wonderful doctor to perform this surgery for me.
After frustrations with back pain, dents in my shoulders, discomfort and clothes not fitting. I got a referral from my MD to see Dr Novia for breast reduction. I couldn't be more impressed with Dr Novia and his team. they were great liaisons with my insurance company, and walked me through the procedure. After my surgery, I almost immediately felt relief in my back and shoulders. He called that night to make sure I was doing ok and the results were better than i imagined. I'm so grateful to him and his staff. I'm happy that I found him to do this procedure.
Dr. Novia was everything I could have asked for in a doctor. His bedside manner is genuine and he really just wants his patients to be happy. He helped me a lot in figuring out exactly what I wanted and then made it happen. I never had to wait for an appointment as he was always on time or ahead of schedule. He is an artist and he used his artistic eye to correct an unevenness in my natural shape with the implants. I am a year out from surgery and couldn't be happier with the results.
I consulted several surgeons before choosing Dr. Novia to perform breast reduction surgery. I was surgery phobic, but I was having severe pain and discomfort because of my enlarged breasts. Dr. Novia and his staff were highly organized and notably caring. Thanks to them, I was well prepared for the procedure and recovery process. My results are beautiful. The surgery was the best thing I have ever done for my self. I feel so much better. I am very grateful to Dr. Novia and his team for the outstanding care I received.
Where do I start, I was actually tried twice to have this surgery in Seattle. Had some things go wrong under anesthesia. Gave up trying for a year. My weight was up and I felt sluggish....I wanted a change so I heard about Dr. Novia. I made an appointment and when I met him, he said he could do it, but he didn't think I would be happy and neither would he. He felt that I had something else that needed to be addressed before he would do the surgery. He sent me across the hall for a checkup with Dr. Adolph's. I found out that I had type 2 diabetes. Dr. Novia is my savior, he totally changed my life. He is more than a Surgeon. Dr. Novia cares about people, and their health, not about making money doing surgeries. With Diet, and exercise, I lost a lot of weight very quickly. I continued to visit Dr. Novia to talk about a possible reduction surgery. He was so supportive and told me it would be entirely up to me as to when and if I wanted it. Well, I decided to have it, and wanted to schedule a certain date so I wouldn't miss work. When the date I wanted was not available, I became a little emotional. The next day his office called and said they were able to schedule me for my desired date. When I had my pre-op appointment, every last detail was covered, every question answered. I was given my paperwork which to my amazement, it included Dr. Novias Cell number. I was told, that I was free to call it at anytime, even if I just felt nervous or anxious about the surgery. This office and staff are top notch. The surgery was a huge success, and I couldn't be happier. Dr. Novia called to check on me that evening. The next morning he removed my bandages. He is truly an amazing human being. ( When the nurses prepped me, they said " he is the best". They weren't kidding.) I will forever be grateful to Dr. Novia, my life has totally changed, due to his knowledge to notice I had more going on than just large breasts. I respect and adore this man, this Doctor, this caring human being. He is amazing and his work is phenomenal. I feel and look amazing, and I had referred family and friends to him. I will continue referrals on a daily basis. THANK YOU DR. NOVIA , FOR CHANGING MY LIFE! H. Beattie Olympia WA
I had pretty large breast probably 42 DDD by the time I was done breast-feeding. They were sagging and the nipples were not even an one of them maybe a little bigger than the other. I had back pain and bad posture and indents from my bra on my shoulders. They were just downright heavy, I couldn't run or do certain exercises. Bras were pretty hard to find. So I got approved for my insurance to get that reduction and the lift and my doctor was great I think he did a really good job I got it done the day after Christmas 2013. So it's been a week now and I been liking the healing, I thought I was doing really good. But now I'm getting a little scared because I have a red spot on the right breast not even on the incision there's like a sore and There is always yellow crust on my bra. I'm not sure if it's from my bra wearing on the skin or something else is going on , I also have some black on the incision where it goes down to a T at the bottom and looking close at my nipples they kind of look like they might be turning a little black I'm not exactly sure I have some pain on the side under my right arm and now my nipples two. I'm kinda freaking out. Updated on 7 Jan 2014: Everything that I was freaked out about turned out to be really nothing bad. I am Healing so nice and quick it's unbelievable. I didn't think that I would heal this fast. I am so excited about the results so far. I am very happy with my PS and I definitely would recommend him to all of my friends and family. Updated on 7 Jan 2014: Just wanted to post some new pictures to show how fast I been healing and how good they look. It's been about two weeks since I had the surgery now I believe
I had a breast reduction surgery done by Dr.Novia of Olympia, WA, in August of this year and could not be any happier with the INCREDIBLE results than I am. I feel very athletic and my self confidence has sky rocketed!!! His office staff and he himself are very easy to deal with, wonderful to talk to, incredibly helpful and dependable. My husband and I could tell that he loves his job. I had done YEARS of homework and having this surgery was a very big decision for me. The looks I now have are wonderful. My friends can not believe this could have been done, seeing the before and afters. As I followed close instructions by Dr.Novia regarding pain medications, this entire procedure of a breast reduction was completely painless. I would be glad to speak to anyone who is considering breast reduction surgery. Dr. Novia is a very likeable man and easy to talk to. He has a wonderful reputation in town and works with two known cancer doctors in his office. He has a reputation of being very concise and it proved to be accurate. Kameron, You might consider getting professional advice with a diet and exercise program prior to having surgery. I often refer my patients to another physician who specializes in this area before we proceed to surgery. This can help you to get a better result from the surgery and to maintain the benefits of surgery over time. I bet you will be much happier in the long run. Good luck! Michael Novia, MD
Chrystal, It is possible that you have a Mondor's cord. If so, this is not a serious problem and it will improve with time. Be sure to keep your follow-up appointment with your surgeon. Ibuprofen seems to help, but you must check with your surgeon to be sure this is okay. Good luck! Michael Novia, MD
Okiemom, Be sure to keep your follow up appointment with your surgeon! Your surgeon will examine you, review your chart and pathology report, and advise you of what needs to be done. Although you are most likely feeling scar tissue from the surgery, you must be examined and followed by your surgeon. Good Luck! Michael Novia, MD
Carol, It is common to have tenderness after breast reduction, especially on your sides when raising your arms. Remember to massage this area especially - twice a day for five minutes with whatever lotion you like. This will help the wounds to soften and the tenderness to resolve sooner. Be sure to keep your follow up appointment with your surgeon so you can be sure everything is going well. Good luck! Michael Novia, MD
QQ, You need more time before even thinking about additional surgery. Every patient is different. Some patients can take 1-2 years to settle down after breast reduction surgery. It looks like you are on the right track. No patient ever ends up perfectly even. Don't forget your wound massage - twice a day for five minutes with whatever lotion you like. This will help the wounds to soften sooner. Good luck! Michael Novia, MD
