I have reviewed the process and have concluded that this is the best option for me. I have scheduled my Orbera procedure for next Wednesday8/29/18. Having tried multiple diets , exercise, and pills successfully and unsuccessfully I am at state where motivation is lost. I am hoping to have a jump start and incorporate a health eating lifestyle. At 46 it has become even harder to get the weight off and I not enjoying how it likes to settle in by belly area. Will post updates during the first week, since this seems to be the most difficult. I have prayed for an easy transition. Updated on 4 Sep 2018: Wanted to give a recap of the past 6 days. Day 2 was the worst day. I did take all the medication as instructed and did have a total of 4 episodes of vomiting. I am down 9 pounds and feel 85% myself. I have been able to keep soft foods down. Every day I feel better and better. I can feel the ballon and have contact feeling of fullness. The discomfort that I feel at times is hard to tell if its’s spasms, gas or hunger. The pain does last long. I didn’t realized how fast I ate prior to getting the ballon. I have no regrets so far and will continue to update my process. Updated on 6 Sep 2018: Every day is feeling better. I have adjusted to the feeling of fullness. I do not have the problem with belching as some people have expressed. I am feeling 90% myself. I have also had a great poops which I hope will show a 2 pound weight loss in the morning....lol... last night was the best night of sleep so far. I did not have much abdominal cramping during the day. I am looking forward to starting exercising. I am going to weight 2 more days. I feel better just having a shake in the morning versus eating a meal. The less I eat the better I feel. I have been concentrating on getting around 100 grams of protein per day with 2 shakes a meals.
I don't mean to discourage anyone about this surgery, I have heard about so many great stories. My goal was to be part of that group but it has been 8 days since my surgery and I had to come back to the hospital and I can't leave. I had the Sleeve gastrectomy plus a hiatal hernia repair, when I came out of surgery I was taken to the XRAY machine to check for leaks, at that moment I was in terrible pain, I was crying cause I couldn't handle the pain, I couldn't believe the anesthesia had worn out that fast. However, knowing that people react differently to it, I thought my surgeon would give me pain killers right away... not so much, turns out my surgeon is known for being very stingy with pain killers... it took them 5 hours to finally get him to give me morfine and that didn't take care of the whole thing. Anyway, I started taking oral pain killers but after swallowing the pain was excruciating again and I would immediately want to throw up. Everybody was convinced that my pain was gas pain due to the CO2 that they use to inflate your stomach, and asked me to walk to help release the pain... well, the pain killers covered everything and I was able to drink so they sent me home. Taking crushed pills at home also caused excruciating pain, 3 days later I couldn't drink much, I was getting dehydrated, called doctor, doctor did a Barium test and realized I had developed an edema, sent me to the ER 5 days after my surgery. Today is 07/27/2016 and I am still here getting an IV, steroids and nothing by mouth... this sucks!!!! The pain in still there, seems like saliva gets stuck in the edema area and that causes pain... nothing has improved... I miss my kids... this is not truly going as planned. And that makes me sad.
