M.F. Noorman Van Der Dussen

Noorman van der Dussen's expertise and experience played a major role in my decision to have my FFS with him, especially given the deeply personal significance of this part of my transition.
I was met with two people, a surgeon and his secretary, who both seemed personally invested in my results, and earned my trust.

I underwent forehead and hairline contouring, jaw and chin reshaping, a tracheal shave, and a lower lip fat transfer.
These procedures targeted the areas of most intense dysphoria for me; Facial dysphoria had been the strongest and most persistent part of my discomfort, and it has felt impossible to move forward confidently in my transition without aligning my face more closely with my identity.

The surgical experience itself was surprisingly manageable.
Pain was negligible; maybe a day or two of pain in my jaw and chin area, but otherwise I was fine.
The only small issue came from accidentally tugging on one of my mouth sutures while eating, which caused a little bump at the back of my mouth, but it healed without further problems, and overall, recovery was smooth thanks in large part to carefully following the post-op care instructions.

Emotionally, the immediate aftermath was incredibly affirming. When I finally saw myself without the compression garments, just about ten hours post-op, still looking like a zombie, my first reaction was a quiet “Wow, nice. I finally did it, hah.”
Even in the most swollen state I enjoyed looking at myself in the mirror.

That said, recovery wasn’t a straight line. About a month in, when the swelling started to subside, I hit a bit of an emotional low. Residual uneven swelling and excess tissue around my jaw and chin gave my face an aged look that was difficult to process after the initial high. I had to remind myself that healing is a marathon, not a sprint, and that I was only one month post-op.
By the two- to three-month mark, the swelling improved, and I found myself really enjoying my reflection again.

FFS didn’t solve everything, but it changed everything. It gave me a foundation of comfort and confidence that’s been vital for me as a trans woman. Socially, I’m gendered correctly far more often now, and personally I feel far more confident in proceeding with my transition and be more "me".

A very humble and knowledgeable master surgeon, supported by a very efficient secretary.
He is down to earth, realistic, honest and careful. He does not try to sell, but rather advise and help.

he works in a deeper way than plastic surgeons. On the bones. Making for a much more natural look.
It is what sold me. A lot of surgeons offers to their patients to look more like a barbie doll - but not him. He does not try that. He goes for natural results

And the results are solid. Three years later, now, i really have nothing to complain.
I look like me, with what made my face look like me... but much more feminine. Seeing myself in the mirror or in pictures brings so much peace now, and i cannot thank him enough for that. He knows his craft, and he knows how it turns out.

I had my FFS with doctor Noorman van der Dussen at the end of 2022.
I had an honest and comfortable pre-surgery consult. I wasn't being sold more than I needed. We just discussed what he thought was necessary and we also discussed what I wanted myself. From there on we decided together to do forehead bossing with hairline lowering, a lipofilling in the cheeks / midface and a chin/jaw reduction.

I had a good stay at the O2 clinic post-surgery and the contact between me and the assistant of doctor Noorman van der Dussen was effective. Quick and insightful responses.

My expectations before surgery were made realistic. For instance I was told that I might still need a hair transplant to get the preferred result with my hairline. It was nice to know what to prepare for when it comes to the result and not be sold unrealistic expectations. This is very important in my opinion.

Two weeks after my surgery when I was home I had a tiny complication, i had some blood collecting on my forehead under the skin. I could immediately come by and get it fixed the same week. I didn't have any problems after that and everything healed perfectly.

It took a couple of months before all swelling fully went down. I ended up with very natural results. In comparison to some other European surgeons who perform FFS, doctor Noorman van de Dussen was more affordable but the results are at least as great. I am super happy I was able to get my FFS with him.
I would recommend him as a surgeon for FFS for sure. 1,5 year later I am still super happy with my results and I can honestly say that FFS has had a major positive impact on my life. I am more passing and enjoy more safety in public, and a more comfortable feeling when I make pictures of myself or look in the mirror. I feel more like myself. That's what it's all about when it comes to FFS in my opinion!

Before I start I want to say that I have been under the care of Dr Noorman Van Der Dussen for some procedures in the past (Cheek Implants, Buccal fat pad removal and septo-rhinoplasty) so I already had faith in him. He has been operating for many many years and it really is a privilege to still be worked on by him. I initially wanted a more defined jawline as I felt like my face was bottom heavy. He suggested that the best way forward was a sliding genioplasty along with some neck liposuction and finally some botox in my masseter muscles.

I arrived in Belgium a few days before my operation and stayed at the B@B Notarishuis which is run by a family member of Dr Van Der Dussen’s colleague and and has a great and comfortable atmosphere. Many of the visitors staying here are patients at the clinic and everything is taken care of amazingly. After arriving I visited Dr NVDD at the Singleberg clinic a few minutes walk from the B&B and we discussed the procedure one last time.

On the day of the surgery I wasn’t too worried as I’d already had procedures done in the past. I went under and came out of surgery a little bit numb but not in a lot of pain, probably thanks to the morphine.

My recovery was pretty unremarkable. Over the next few days I swelled up like a balloon, had trouble eating solid foods and had numbness in my teeth. I had to wear a chin strap for around a week, which was pretty annoying but not the end of the world. You’ll need soft foods and protein drinks for the first week or so.

Over the next 3 weeks 70 percent of my swelling went down, however I still have some slight tightness in the bottom of my jaw when I smile, and my lower teeth are still slightly numb. I have no doubt that this will recover more as time goes on.

All in all I am more than happy with the result, I would say it has surpassed my expectations and would definitely recommend visiting the clinic. If anyone wants some more info please feel free to hit me up.

From start to finish we (me and my partner) have nothing but positive things to say of the office of Dr. Van der Dussen. The whole team (Marije & Dr. Oelbrandt) have an incredibly heartwarming and professional approach. Marije is accommodating in every sense from helping us arrive to Beveren: a suburb of Antwerp, organizing everything from the accommodation and the surgery date and helping us with all the information we needed until feeling 100% comfortable and answering the hundreds of questions we had.

From the first consultation in Dr.VDD’s office I immediately felt a sense of assurance knowing I was in the right hands. With the amount of experience and empathy that the doctor has you know without a doubt that you are in the hands of an artist. The FFS procedure I undertook (forehead recontouring/ brow lift/jaw & chin recontouring) was completely scarless, which is the approach that the doctor prefers and one that I did as well. There is no question left unanswered or a stone left unturned with dr. VDD. Do not be afraid to ask as many questions as you may have as it’s a very serious surgery that you should feel completely safe and prepared for. I assure you that with Dr. VDD and his staff you’ll be without a doubt in the best hands. Following the consultation we scheduled a date for the surgery about two months later with my partner also deciding to jump onboard and have a lower blepharoplasty a few days following my procedure.
The day of the surgery the operation took place at a hospital outside Beveren about 20 min from our hotel which I would recommend very highly & is headed by the wife of Dr.Olbrandt (Seema) and is called the B&B Notarihuis Beveren.

In total my operation took about 7 hours and with the help of Dr. Olbrandt they did their magic. I woke up dying of thirst and had to stay overnight until being allowed to go back to my hotel the next day. The pain was manageable with pain killers prescribed by the doctor and his team. On a scale from 1 to 10 it was definitely a 7 but about a 5 with the medication. Liquids were very crucial and keeping a healthy diet was the most important part of the recovery. The doctor checked in and removed the stitches on my scalp a few days later and even though I could not even recognize myself I felt peace knowing that in a few months much of the anxiety and pain I lived with my whole life would be alleviated immensely.

Five months later most of not all of the swelling has gone down and I have nothing but gratitude for Dr. Van der Dussen, Marije and Dr.Olbrandt. They are truly an amazing team and I recommend anyone considering to have FFS or any procedure for that matter to give the office a call.

Done a forehead augmentation from Japan, the result was terrible. I came to Dr. Noorman Van Der Dussen for a revision of the shape of my forehead and brow-bone. Now one week after the surgery, my head is still swelling, but i'm so pleased already to see the excellent result on the right track.

I underwent so-called „Feminization Forehead Recontouring Type 3“ with Dr Noorman v d Dussen in 2018.
Only three surgeons/clinics within Europe perform this surgery. I chose Dr. Noorman v d Dussen as he has the most years of experience with facial feminization techniques in Europe, was at the same time not the most expensive one regarding this procedure, and as he performs it without the use of bone cement (a plastic material).
The frontal bone of the sinus cavity is removed. carved and reattached in an endorotated way. Additionally. the bone above the eyebrows is shaved. The forehead got flatter so that the region of eyes and forehead appear more female.
The surgery went well without any unexpected problems. Swelling was as expected, the eyes became small during the first week. Swelling and bruising started to decrease from the fifth day after surgery. I was able to drive back to Germany three days after the surgery.

I´m a female and I had my 1. jaw surgery in February 2013 in Germany, because of a malposition of my jaws. After the surgery, not only my jaw misalignment has not been corrected (which was the aim of the surgery), but my appearance also changed to the negative. I received a very prominent and asymmetrically formed lower jaw. I think I don´t have to mention, that I was very depressed and unhappy with the result. However I consider myself terribly lucky to have found Dr NOORMAN VAN DER DUSSEN.
He has reduced the width of my mandible and has also performed other FFS procedures on me. The result was apparent after a year(!) and I´m very ery satisfied with it. I´m really thankful to him and would definitely recommend him!

I chose Dr Noorman Van Der Dussen to perform my chin surgery (reduce vertical height and feminize to create a more V shape) as after much research he seemed to have the most experience and qualifications for this procedure.
With this type of surgery it is very important to chose a surgeon who specialises in this area. Dr NVDD is a cranio maxillo facial and aesthetic surgeon which means he has great understanding of how to manage both the bone and soft tissue for the best outcome. I would advise against going with a surgeon who offers hundreds of different procedures as they may not have the knowledge required to avoid possible problems such as loss of sensation in the face/skin sagging.
CONSULTATION
Dr NVDD holds monthly consultations in London, which I attended. Dr NVDD is very friendly, and I could soon tell that he totally understood what I needed/wanted changing with the appearance of my chin. It was such a relief to finally have someone understand what my issues were and he gave me total confidence that he knew how to achieve my desired look.
CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE
From the moment of the first email inquiring about this procedure until present day, my experience was fantastic. Dr NVDD's assistant Marije was very friendly, helpful and answered any questions that I had. She really helped to make the whole experience as stress free as possible.
TRAVEL
Marije (the assistant of Dr NVDD) provided me a comprehensive list of travel instructions/tips, so getting to the clinic in Belgium was no problem. For those travelling for this procedure, I highly recommend staying at the Notarishuis Beveren B&B as it is a 1 minute walk away from the clinic and owned by the wife of one of the other surgeons at the clinic. They were very helpful and it was nice to know they were used to hosting guests who were travelling for surgery.
HOSPITAL
As I had general anaesthetic, my surgery took place in a local hospital. It was very clean and modern and the staff were warm, kind and competent.
SURGERY
The day of my surgery was as stress free as possible! Dr NVDD came to see me before surgery, he was so kind and reassuring, I almost felt like a family member of his. I had virtually no pain after the procedure. After I came round from the anaesthetic I remember touching my lips and lower face to check I still had sensation, and I was so happy when I did. I know this can be a concern with this surgery due to the 'mental nerve' becoming severed, but Dr NVDD took careful planning with x-rays beforehand and assured me he doesn't take risks when cutting near this nerve. Within 1-2 weeks I had regained full sensation in my lower face and lips.
RESULTS
I am now nearly 4 months post op and so far I am very happy with my results. It has made a significant difference to my appearance and I am feeling so happy that the results were just how I had hoped they would be! I am really glad I went through with this surgery, even though it is a pretty daunting thought to have bone removed from your chin.
For those considering this procedure I would highly encourage you to only go with a cranio maxillo facial and aesthetic surgeon like Dr NVDD, it simply isn't worth the risk of damaging the look/function of your face by going with a surgeon who doesn't specialise in this area. Very happy I found this doctor, and I highly recommend him!

Just wanted to update with a photo to show the change made to the chin shape. From square to more V. Achieved by removing section of bone and then securing with titanium screws (no it doesn’t set off any alarms at the airport!). Leaves no visible scar as incision is made inside the mouth below gums.
Recovery was virtually painless, didn’t need to take any painkillers during recovery.
