I opted for the gastric sleeve and chose Dr. Hafford after consulting with two other surgeons. I asked her why she chose bariatric to specialize in and she stated that she wanted to watch her patients journey into becoming healthy. She is very personable, honest, and compassionate. Her staff is just as wonderful as she is. Thanks Hafford Bariatrics!
Dr. Hafford was a God send, she was recommended to me from two of my other doctors to perform the Bariatric Surgery. After my first appointment with her and she explained the different proceditures to me we chose the Sleeve, which turned out to be perfect. I was in and out in a day, up walking around and everything. The surgery was in October 2016 and as of date I've lost 70 lbs!! Have been taken off of the C-Pat machine and a few medications. I've dropped down two just about three sizes in clothes which is wonderful!! I really appreciate and thankful that I found Dr. Melanie Hafford!!
She was simply wonderful. I decided to get the gastric bypass February 2016 and was referred to her by my PCP. Best decision of my life. She was very detailed and professional. The doctor looked at my medical history and recommended what would be best for me. In the day and age of "google-ing" everything, that was refreshing.
Hello Sasha,For each patient, choosing the best operation depends on several different factors relating to you health profile (medical and surgical history), lifestyle, and how much weight you need to lose. I have found in general that young premenopausal women tend to lose more weight after surgery than the average we quote (50-60% of excess body weight), often because your metabolism tends to kick on as you lose weight and become more physically active. For a young woman who is relatively healthy and not requiring insulin for control of your diabetes, you will likely do very well with a sleeve gastrectomy, and be able to lose the weight without dealing with some of the issues our bypass patients have to adjust to. Of course, I would recommend you discuss the pro's and cons of a sleeve vs bypass with your surgeon once they have had a chance to review your personal medical/surgical history.I hope that helps!Melanie L.
