I've had some hair thinning on the crown area of my head for a few years now and was looking for a viable solution for hair restoration. I researched several different procedures and came across the ARTAS Robotic Hair procedure. Originally, I was a little hesitant as this was all new to me. I decided to visit Maxim Medical for a consultation. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I felt much more informed about the procedure and they were willing to answer all questions I had. Afterwards I decided to proceed with the procedure. The actual procedure itself takes roughly most of the day, (sometimes broken up into multiple days depending on the amount of grafts). ARTAS is pretty much painless. You might feel some sharp pinches here and there, but just tell the staff and they’ll re-apply anesthesia to the scalp to numb the pain. It took me about 7-12 days after the procedure for the scabs in the recipient area to fall off. I took a little over a week off from work to recover. It's only been a few months since I had the operation, so it's too early to tell on the results. But I'm optimistic. Overall a good experience.
Liquid minoxidil contains propylene glycol which helps it penetrate more deeply, but it does tend to cause more irritation and allergies than a foam version. The efficacy of minoxidil was based on clinical studies where it was used twice daily. However, it is not uncommon for patients to use a larger dose once a day at night time. If the liquid version is not causing you any problems and you don't mind its messiness, it is probably a slightly more effective option due to its deeper penetration.
