I highly recommend Dr. Sheu to anyone looking for the ultimate cosmetic dermatologist! Dr. Sheu treated me at the Johns Hopkins Cosmetic Center at Green Spring Station, MD. She performed many cosmetic procedures including Botox, Fraxel, Microneedling, Medlite, and IPL with great skill, attention to detail, and consistently excellent results. Dr. Sheu also went above and beyond during a time when most dermatology offices were closed to expertly remove a suspicious lesion, for which I will be eternally grateful. Dr. Sheu recently moved to the west coast where I have no doubt she will continue to provide outstanding care. Her knowledge, skills, and kindness will be greatly missed.
At first I thought the peel had not been strong enough, because over the first two days I had minimal redness and no pain. By day 3, however, my face started to tighten and turn brown in spots. By day 5 it was peeling in strips, and I could tell the skin underneath was very fresh. I had very little discomfort and the new skin was never very red or irritated. I have seen the photos of people who have done TCA peels at home, and they often look uneven and painful. I would recommend doing it with a doctor, because I had very little discomfort and wonderful results. Dr. Sheu could not have been more professional, caring and supportive.
Yes, in fact after a Fraxel repair treatment session, the collagen remodelling process continues so that further improvement is often seen for about 6 months.
Salicylic acid 20% or 30% is generally safe for most people and can be very effective in clearing up mild to moderate acne. They are generally spaced 2 weeks apart, and I usually recommend 3-6 peels initially, depending on the severity of acne. For the red marks from old acne, I would recommend the pulsed dye laser, which can help them to clear up more quickly. I would recommend seeing a dermatologist who performs peels and laser therapy on a regular basis. Good luck!
