I’m sorry to hear this. As physicians, we need to listen to our patients and not be paternalistic. Your Gyn should refer you if they are not comfortable doing the procedure. It’s your right to receive care. I would suggest you look up a Cosmetic Gynecologist or Plastic Surgeon in your area that providers this service.

I'm 19, 151 lbs, 5'5". My right labia minora has always bothered me how it looks, but any time I bring it up with my gynecologist he just says it looks normal and I don't need to change anything. I hate how it curls up on the side. Is there anything I can do or you would recommend for me to do?

Hello, I am contemplating getting the O Shot due to vaginal dryness. Im 36 and had a total hysterectomy last year that left both ovaries. My estrogen levels have been checked and are low but not quite menopausal. Starting in April of this year I noticed significant reduction in vaginal lubrication. Would this procedure be beneficial to my issue?

That is a wonderful question. Ultimately with any surgery there are risks, and these can include injury to nerves. Even nerves that are not generally in that area. Everyone’s body is different. Therefore, the anatomy and areas of surgery can be different. That being said, you’re right, the clitoral nerve should not be involved when doing a labiaplasty. However, you must remember that many women opt to also get a clitoral hood reduction at the same time as labiaplasty. Risk of clitoral nerve injury definitely does increase during this additional procedure.

Hello, I consider having labiaplasty and hood reduction. Theoretically, these surgeries don't involve the clitoris and the dorsal nerve of the clitoris, and theortically no damage to the clitoris, means no nerve damage, no constant pain and no lost of sensation. So why is there still a risk? (1) does practically the surgeon might touch or cut them accidently? (2) Is it not just the dorsal nerve of the clitoris that control it, but other nerves cutting, can cause to these problems? thank yo

Why is there risk of nerve damage to the clitoris with a labiaplasty?

Acoustic sound wave is an amazing treatment for incontinence! By increasing blood flow to the tissue around the urethra, we are increasing the strength of regeneration in that area. Healthy tissue around the urethra increases the chance that it works properly, thereby decreasing stress incontinence. Acoustics sound waves can also work for other types incontinence. Having a hip replacement does not preclude a patient from getting this therapy.
