I saw Dr Lupin this fall for a small amount of facial filler and botox. He has an incredibly light touch. The results were subtle, but outstanding. He is an expert in the field, which is why I travelled from out of town to see him. I had filler in lower eye area, temples and cheeks. I did not get one bruise, virtually no inflammation. He is highly trained, and it shows in his work.
Hey Everyone, I got this tattoo less than a year ago. I went in wanting a hummingbird flying out of lots of colour on my forearm. At the last minute I decided to have it put higher up on my arm with only a little of it on my forearm. I thought it was ok when I got it, I wasn't too fussed either way. I recently graduated and began working in a professional occupation in which having my forearms exposed is much easier. I also recently got a tattoo that showed me exactly what an amazing artist can do. For these reasons I decided to have the part of this tattoo on my forearm completely removed. The part extending up my upper arm I will eventually have lightened and hopefully covered since I doubt I would be able to have the red and yellows removed completely. I also still really love tattoos as long as I can cover them up easily. My first session is today with the Picosure laser which from what I've seen has pretty much annihilated most people's blue, green, and purple tattoos. I was quoted $350 per session for the forearm part and a bit above my elbow. Updated on 17 Aug 2014: Hey, sorry for the very delayed response, started my new job and has been very busy and let this go by the wayside. It's been months since my first treatment and I haven't had any since because I find it near impossible to get to the clinic as it is only open Tues-Fri and I work several hours away. Hopefully will manage a morning off soon so I can get another one in. Pretty impressed with the progress though! The laser pretty much annihilated the blue and green and purple which is the bulk of my tattoo anyways. I think I'm just going to lighten up the top part of my arm for a coverup and completely get rid of the hummingbird if possible.
I had juvederm ultra plus put in my cheeks and nasolabial folds. 2 syringes total. my lines are still VERY prominent - they aren't that bad, but juvederm made NO DIFFERENCE AT ALL! One week later and i still look the same - apart from the GIANT BRUISE across my face!
I am a family physician who experienced a horrible complication from Dr Lupin. He injected dermal filler into an artery and did not treat appropriately. He left me there in his chair for one hour with an ice pack on my cheek( appropriate treatment includes Hyaluronidase, ASA, Nitro etc- an ice pack is exactly the wrong thing to do). When I finally got up to leave as no one seemed to care that I was still there he was having a meeting with his staff about how to generate more revenue. This was appalling and unethical treatment. I was heading out to another province the next day for a vacation with my husband and young kids. He knew he screwed up as he offered to pay for my flight home if things got too bad. I didn’t take legal action as I was too ashamed to let my friends and family know I was vain enough to seek cosmetic treatment.
When number 11's are present at rest, fillers are required for the majority of patients if you want to properly address these lines. Botox is important as it is treating the reason for the lines and naturally should be optimized and maintained. Having no movement does not necessarily erase lines, does not necessarily look natural, and does not usually provide long lasting improvement to static lines. Some of the happiest patients are those who see that filler can immediately improve these lines. And often, filler will extend the time between Botox treatments. If you treat number 11 lines early on, Botox alone may be sufficient. They just require addition of filler when they have been more deeply ingrained and are noticeable even when you are relaxed. Hyaluronic acid fillers are the normal type of fillers used for this purpose.
Isolaz is a non-laser treatment providing what is called photopneumatic therapy. Essentially, a small pulse of light along with a vacuum treatment handpiece helps improve acne by reducing the acne bacterium called P. acnes while also cleaning out pores. If your pores are whiteheads or blackheads, then Isolaz can help. There are other types of pores including dilated pores from aged, thin skin; and some pitted acne scars can also mimic pores. Ideally, it would be best to see a dermatologist to diagnose your type of pore in order to direct the best treatment. Isolaz is not the best treatment for redness due to broken vessels. Lasers like V-beam and Excel V are dedicated and designed specifically to treat these unwanted blood vessels. IPL can help blood vessels but is generally better for treating diffuse redness and/or brown spots.
Botox treatment of the glabellar area can lead to dropping of the brow if the injections are placed too high up or if placed too far away from the area between the brows. This is because the frontalis muscle is inadvertently being treated in both situations. It is not because of excessive spread of the Botox - which is determined and controlled by the experience of the injector rather than the nature of Botox. With normal aging, there can also be laxity of the skin and loss of support for the brows leading to some degree of brow heaviness. Fillers can lift the brows as can microfocused ultrasound treatments with Ulthera, for example. And your injector may have to adjust for any latent skin laxity and aim more for a Botox browlift rather than just treat the glabellar corrugators.
Frown lines and creases at rest are best treated with dermal fillers such as Juvederm or Restylane. Botox, Dysport and Xeomin treat dynamic lines and should be optimized first. Dermal fillers address static lines and creases and provide immediate results. This requires an experienced injector and should be easily possible. The combination of Botox and a dermal filler gives a synergistic, pleasing and long lasting result.
It takes 2-3 weeks to see the full effect of Botox. In the frown and forehead regions, it is approximately 80% effective by 1 week, 95% effective by 2 weeks, and fully effective by 3 weeks. There is naturally some variation between each patient and between each treatment. At 4 days, there is the beginning of a result but not yet fully developed. There can also be some initial mild asymmetries due to different rates of onset with each muscle group. This can also present as initial but temporary heaviness of the brows. However, major asymmetries should not occur with an experienced injector. If you are concerned, it is important to follow up early with your injector to determine if indeed you are experiencing normal, early mild asymmetries or whether early intervention with more Botox might be considered. It is important that your injector took before pictures with and without animation so that you can both be objective about the present concerns. We are all asymmetric to begin with and sometimes these asymmetries appear to be magnified rather than diminished with Botox. The key to a successful outcome will be the experience and knowledge of the injector. The goal is to look refreshed and more symmetric - never to look treated.
