I wish I could leave Dr. Chin and his staff ten thousand stars (which still would not be enough to reflect how much I appreciate the Valley Institute of Plastic Surgery). Dr. Chin and his entire staff at the Valley Institute of Plastic Surgery are without a doubt the best in the business. We are so lucky to have such a talented plastic surgeon in the Central Valley. Dr. Chin will be my plastic surgeon's office for life. My services include a Breast Life/Breast Augmentation (which is an understatement, you should see what he had to work with--this man is an artist), and now I go to Dr. Chin's office for all needs including my botox, laser hair removal, and any future cosmetic procedures. The service is exceptional and you know you can trust everything he says. If you are looking for a plastic surgeon for any services and want to hear about my experiences in the Central Valley as I've worked wit multiple surgeons, my inbox is open. I would love to save you the heartache I experienced with other providers and share with you WHY I wish I found Dr. Chin earlier. He's the best in business. If you message me, I am happy to share my experience with you. I love this man and his staff more than I could ever emphasize in a review. One of these days I will leave a more detailed response, but I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Mark Chin, Ali Caplinger (his Physician's Assistant who does my other services), Diane (office manager), and Martha (front office staff). I was previously bamboozled to work with another plastic surgery office for essentially reconstruction related to major weight loss. I can speak as someone who has received services from multiple surgeons in the Valley, Dr. Chin is the best ever. From his patient care, thoroughness, and follow-up, he is the gold standard of healthcare. Dr. Chin's philosophy is "mark twice, cut once" and he did a remarkable job on my breast reconstruction. I am so grateful every single day for my experience with him, and I just wish I had found him sooner. As someone who had worked with other offices in the Central Valley for a MMO, my inbox is open to anyone who wants to know more about my experiences. I swear on everything I believe in, he really is the best. Do not hesitate, this is the guy. Do his consult and you will understand why. He is worth the investment you are making in yourself. Again, I am more than happy if you are on the fence to share my experiences with you because Dr. Chin has a lifelong client in me. I am so grateful for his entire practice.
Dr. Chin is amazing! He takes his time and explains everything very thoroughly. He also will tell you what he thinks will work best and pros & cons. I am so happy with his work. My chin has never looked better.
Hands down one of the best decisions I made in my whole entire life! Glad I waited to get this done from a TRUE BLESSED ARTISTIC SURGEON. Listen to his suggestions instead of your own preconceived notion of what you think is best for yourself! He is truly amazing and there's no words for how grateful I am.
I’m 46, mom of 3 children. My breasts were less than stellar. I called them “rocks in socks” - when you bend over and they hand like long tube socks with rocks at the ends. That was me. I chose Dr. Chin because of his reviews and he could practically so these surgeries with his eyes closed. He has a great reputation and does great work. I went with a lollipop lift and the moderate naturelle soft touch silicone implant. 445cc. I am so happy with my procedure and look forward to what I will look like in a few months. I’m not going to lie, the first two days were the worst. Actually, day two was pretty terrible. But other than that, I would say the pain scale is moderate to mild after two weeks. I am currently at 3 weeks today with mild discomfort towards the end of the day but completely manageable. I took percocet the first two days and Tylenol for two days after that, nothing since. Dr Chin and his staff are quite incredible. I must say that Ali in his office is such a gem. But, seriously, every person in that office treats you so well and is so professional. I can’t say enough good things. They make you feel like you’re not a number, walk you though everything, take their time to answer every question, and give honest, real feedback. I feel like I got my confidence back and can’t believe I waited this long to do this. I scoured this website for reviews and photos(so helpful), abs I hope this helps you take the plunge too! Updated on 27 May 2021: Here is my post op photos from the office, they actually used my photos for their website. They look beautiful. The right side still hasn’t completely dropped in this photo, it has moved down quite a bit since. But, I am so pleased with the results.
I just recently had a procedure done with Dr Chin. I was very glad that he told me what exactly I needed to do in order to get the results I wanted. He is very straight forward about what the outcome will be. Dr Chin wants the best for you and gives you exactly what you pay for!!! If you really want to look great listen to what he is saying because you will be happier at the end!! Thank you Dr Chin you are the best!!!
Explantation was one of my best decisions! Thought long and hard about it. At 66 years old, with 20 year old saline implants, it was time to make a change. Better to have them removed at this age, rather then later! Active lifestyle, clothing choices, aches and pain in breast, medical concerns, and just wanting to be my own natural self, again. I chose Dr. Mark Chin of Fresno, Calif to do explant. Excellent experience from consult to surgery. Four days post op, I have no pain! The tubing is a tiny bit sore, but that's it. Surgery experience was smooth and easy. Staff is great, made me feel at ease, answered all my questions and concerns. The anesthesiologist was also very good..spent some time with me pre op and addressed my concerns. Dr. Chin is warm, friendly, knowledgeable, knows his craft, unhurried. Answered all my questions and put me at total ease!. Thank you to Dr. Chin and staff! Much appreciation!
Hi everyone! I’m so excited for my mommy makeover in just a couple weeks. My first pregnancy did a number on my stomach and I’m sooo excited to finally get my body back after 9 years of not feeling like myself. Updated on 19 Jan 2019: Hi ladies. I’m wondering if anyone has struggled with feelings of guilt approaching your upcoming procedure, particularly a MM. I’ve been feeling very guilty about the time I’m taking off to do this, asking people for help and the money that’s being spent for me to have this happen. Disclaimer: my husband DOES NOT make me feel this way. He’s excited for me. These are all my own feelings that I didn’t realize would be a side effect of having this procedure. The past two weeks I’ve felt myself being on edge, feeling depressed and sad for no real reason, quick to cry and I am NOT normally this way. I’m just wondering if anyone can relate. I know I’m happy and grateful I get to correct my body and I should just be embracing that, but I still feel a lot of guilt. Updated on 1 Feb 2019: Wow! Can’t believe the MM came and went- now healing time. I’ve been really strict about following doctor’s orders and getting lots of rest. I’ve been on a liquid diet because I’m soooo afraid of pooping and how bad it’ll hurt even with stool softeners. I finally took some laxatives last night but still nothing. Updated on 6 Feb 2019: Wow! What a difference getting my drain tubes taken out has made! I got them out yesterday and was immediately able to make my binder lower and tighter which has helped me stand up straighter and I’m almost able to stand 100% straight. I even made it to Target and the grocery store today! I’m really swollen but purchase foods and teas that are anti-inflammatory and am really focusing on a healthy diet to aid recovery and to achieve the body I’ve always wanted!! Updated on 18 Feb 2019: My MM was three weeks ago today and I feel great. I don’t have any stomach pains at all and the swelling continues to improve. I am having pain in my left breast and none at all in my right. I go in for a checkup tomorrow and hopefully get some reassuring news about that. Hopefully it’s just pains of the implant settling and not because the capsule I too small and laying on a nerve. This weekend and the one before I didn’t really watch what I ate and I need to be better about that, especially since I’m not working out. I saw Dr. Chin over 15 years ago for a breast augmentation and a rhinoplasty. I was completely satisfied 15 years ago and I’m not saying because of his surgery I won miss California International 2005. Of course it was from my training and years of pageantry but I do believe the reconstruction that he helped me with helped me get a A little bit closer to the crown. Now 15 years later I have had two children and have decided to have a breast reduction and new implants. I am only seven days in to my recovery and I feel and look amazing. He and his staff are very professional, polite and they make you feel like part of the family. I feel and look like I am 22 years old again! ( in my opinion) All of his consultations with me and my husband he listened to me and makes me feel completely comfortable in what I’m saying and he did do everything I asked him to do and more! When I need anything else done in the future I will be going back to him! I tell everybody about him, you do not need to leave the valley to get a great surgeon Dr. Mark Chin in my opinion is number one in California. Next will be Botox which I have done with him before. The office is beautiful and you will always feel like you are their number one priority! Thank you Dr. Chin and all the ladies in the office!
I have been a patient of Dr. Chin since May 1996. He is the best there is for any Plastic surgery. He truly cares about his patients. He won't do a procedure because you can write a check. PERIOD. He actually cares about you, his work and his practice. You are in thru best hands when you choose him and he chooses you. Thank you Dr. Ching for choosing me.
I had always dreamed about having larger breasts and as I aged my body changed and I thought it would better balance my figure to have larger breasts. I had 550 cc implants and I went from a B cup to a DD. A year and a half after my breast augmentation my right implant had a leak. At that time, I seriously thought about having my implants removed because they never felt right inside of me. I might have had a better figure but my intuition told me that I had made a mistake. I spoke with my PS and family and everyone advised me against it. They all said that it would probably be hard for me to be a smaller size again. Less than a year ago, my left breast implant had a leak and I once again sought advice from family and my PS. I had gained 25 pounds and my PS explained that I would really be out of balance. He also shared stories with me of recent patients who had them removed and was so disappointed, that they had them put back in. Friends were concerned about damage that might have been done from the implants and how my breasts would look if I had them removed. I once again decided to keep them. I had both implants replaced so that I would have more years before needing another surgery (I learned after getting implants how much upkeep/surgery revisions are needed). 4 months after my implant replacement surgery, my left breast had bottomed out, requiring another surgery to repair. I decided to postpone the surgery and take time to think about what I really wanted to do. Thank goodness I found the Real Self website. I spent time reading the positive posts from other women who had gone through the decision of having their implants removed. Their stories gave me the courage to make the decision to have my implants removed. When I met with my PS, he could tell that I had absolutely made up my mind and he began to change how he communicated with me. I felt like I was finally having a "real" conversation with him about implants and all the things that can and do go wrong. On September 9, 2015 I had them removed. WHAT A RELIEF. I've had the usual soreness and recovery. Two weeks post op, I'm thrilled! I'm real and I never have to worry or deal with my fake boobs again. My breasts are still healing but I can see they are fluffing up again. They are actually larger than before. I haven't been fitted for a bra yet as I'm still wearing my compression sports bra but I'm sure I will be at least a C cup now. Go figure? Anyone contemplating having their implants removed, if your inner voice is saying yes, listen to your inner voice! You will be right. Updated on 16 Oct 2015: The pictures I'm posting are with my implants the day before explant, 1 week after implants removed and 1 month after implants removed. This hasn't been a difficult adjustment, it felt right from the minute I was out of surgery. I feel more like a women now because I'm real.
Not necessarily and it often results in a more natural look. Many patients have a child after a breast augmentation and the shape of the breast afterwards will depend upon how much the breast changes with pregnancy and weight gain and how long nursing occurred. Pregnancy and nursing typically enlarges the breast and stretch the skin which may create stretch marks and decrease the elasticity of the skin. The breast tissue itself often atrophies (shrinks) to a smaller volume after pregnancy compared to the prepartum size coupled with the decrease in elasticity results in a looser skin envelope. This usually results in a more natural tear drop look which doesn't necessarily mean a reoperation. But if the skin is too loose a breast lift or a larger implant (to a degree) may help improve the shape of the breast. A patient that started with a smaller amount of breast tissue (A-B cup) tends to have less of a change with pregnancy compared to a C-D cup breast. The capsule around the implant tends to keep the implant in position, however the breast tissue, if stretched and enlarged, can hang over the implant making the nipple position too low requiring repositioning for a balanced look.
What you describe is common which is the implant shell that could be folding on itself with time. The upper part of the breast implant is typically covered by the pectoral muscle and upper pole breast tissue compared to the lower pole where the implant which is mostly covered with breast tissue or nearby chest skin that is now part of the breast. The tissue is thinner here which can also thin even more with time making the implant more palpable. This is especially true near the old breast fold (inframammary crease) and the new fold created with an implant larger than the breast mound is placed. The capsule (scar tissue surrounding the implant) can tighten and deform the implant, folding and creating a crease and can create a buckle or "point" that can be pushed in and out as you have described. This can be demonstrated with a sample implant in the office. It is common in the lower pole and on the outside of the implant to feel the implant more. The contracture can worsen creating a firmer less mobile implant which can cause asymmetry and discomfort. A slowly leaking implant will loose volume and the shell can fold with time and the breast size will get smaller. Any "lump" should be evaluated by a physician as well as the the status of the implant to determine recommendations for further examinations.
Hello Molly HN, If you want a higher crease and excess skin removed, you might consider "Westernization" of the upper lid where the crease fold can be relocated with sutures and excess skin can be removed if you want to see more eyelid skin. Removing too much skin in Asians may result in an unnatural ethnic look. You have nice folds now, though slightly asymmetrical, and if you lift your brows and like the look of the upper eyelids, you might consider altering the brow height mostly on the outside (corners) to avoid the surprised look. However, it may look too high if the highlighted eyebrows we see in the photo are where you brows are. If you have removed the hair and placed makeup/tattoo to look higher then your actual brow may be lower (the skin appears thicker on the outside of the brow) and if you readjust the level where you put your makeup after a brow lift it may not look as high. An alternative is to see what a "chemical" brow lift would look like and have a trial of Botox injected in the crow's feet area to raise the corner of the brow and see if it raises the brow enough to raise the level of the fold exposing more eyelid skin. Alternatively, Ultherapy (ultrasound) treatments are used to tighten and raise the forehead and brow level which can last for years. The best is to see a plastic surgeon who can evaluate you up closely and discuss you options. Good luck!
The nasal tip shape is dependent upon the skin thickness, underlying fibrofatty tissue, and the cartilage that supports the tip. The shape and amount of the lower alar cartilage influences the width of the tip (bulbous, boxy, pinched tip) and the balance between shape and breathing is important. The width of the tip can be controlled by excising excess, repositioning, suturing the cartilage, and sometimes grafting to alter the width of the tip in relationship to the rest of the nose. Maintaining an adequate flare of the nostril is important for breathing. Too pinched of a nose can narrow the airway. The nose, especially the nasal tip, tends to be swollen after surgery, even up to a year. Too pinched of a nose depends upon what was done at the time of the surgery and may be improved with release of sutures, repositioning sutures, but may need grafting of cartilage for support as well. I hope this helps your understanding of rhinoplasty surgery.
The answer is "yes". Asymmetry of the upper lids is common and it is possible to change one or both eyelid crease levels. We often do "Westernization" or double eyelid surgery particularly in the Asian (or non-Asian) patient who desire a fold where one is absent. Sutures are used to anchor the lid crease at the desired level. It can be used to change the level of the folds of both eyes if desired. Sometimes excess skin is also removed if more eyelid show is desired. Ask if the doctor performs "double eyelid surgery" when inquiring at the surgeon's office. Good Luck!
