Sculpsure is FDA approved for the abdomen and flanks but the procedure works for other areas as well.  It also works for the inner and outer thighs.

Who is the ideal candidate for Sculpsure?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

The ideal candidate has a BMI of 30 or less but this procedure will help anybody who has areas of fat that are bothersome. It is not a weight loss procedure but it does reduce targeted areas of fat  that are a concern to patients.  It definitely helps to work out in addition to the treatment for best results.

There are alternating pulses of heat and cold to keep the procedure comfortable.  The discomfort is totally tolerable.  I would describe it as minimal.  It would never be a reason not to do it.

If the original biopsy for the mole came back atypical the mole now needs to be excised.  Often times pigment does reoccur depending on how the biopsy is done.  Usually the pathologist will say if the lesion reoccurs then it needs to be excised.  Since the original biopsy was atypical it needs to be cut out again.  Margaret Shannon MD

The biggest difference between Cool sculpting and SculpSure is that SculpSure uses a laser that specifically targets fat.  Sculpsure has no step offs because the heat is dispersed outside of treatment area. Cool sculpting only treats the fat suctioned areas so there can be irregularities.
Smaller patients can be treated with SculpSure because patients do not have to enough fat to be able to pull up  into the suction applicator as is required for cool sculpting.
Cool sculpting requires massage post treatment to treat "butter stick" treated area.  SculpSure patients do not have any "butter stick" areas.
SculpSure only takes 25 minutes to treat an area whereas Coolsculpting takes 1 hour per area.
Hope this explains some differences.
