I have never been happy about my teeth and have waged to straighten them since I was 11. Now I am 25 and decided I was going to finally get my teeth done. I saw two different orthodontists in Annapolis, MD to get opinions. The first Dr told me I would have to get metal braces and that I wasn't a candidate for Invisalign. Then I saw Dr. O'Reilly in Annapolis, after my exam she recommended I get Invisalign. I told her how I had seen another Dr and he said I wasn't a candidate, she explained that she uses Invisalign with a lot of cases and I am definitely a candidate. I was very excited to know I could have the clear aligners that Invisalign provides because I felt being 25 I didn't want the metal braces. After my initial consultation I returned back to have my teeth scanned to be sent off for the trays to be made. While I waited for the trays to come in I had to have 8 teeth extracted! 4 wisdom plus two bicuspids at the top and 2 bicuspids at the bottom... The pain from the extractions was almost unbearable after 2 weeks I started to feel relief and got the call my trays were in. I was never told about the attachments I only knew of them from using real self.com I have a lot of attachments 25!!!!!!! I don't mind them, I know it's a part of the process. Today is day 2 of tray 1/47 (yes 47 trays, it's the most I have ever heard of) and my teeth are very sore. My mouth has not fully recovered from the extractions and now my mouth is hurting even more from my teeth being shifted by the 1st tray. I am hopeful that in a few more days the pain will subside and removing and putting on the trays will be easier and not hurt like they do now Updated on 13 Nov 2015: Showing my teeth wth out aligners from different angles Updated on 13 Nov 2015: I had my Invisaglin put on 11/10/15 and today is 11/13/15, I have learned so much from all of you out there so THANKS for posting what works for you because it had really helped. So far I have experienced a lot of discomfort, my teeth are so tender, and the trays smell really bad even though I brush them with tooth paste each time I remove them. I am really looking forward to a few months from now when my mouth will finally be adjusted to having these. My cheeks and tongue are cut up and blistered, and I now have filed the rough edges with a filer after being cut up so much. I also bought some wax (RiteAid brand) and it works 10X better than the wax that I got from the ortho, the RiteAid wax just sticks and holds its place and doesn't become gooey. Removing and putting the trays back on hurts so badly that I only will take them off when I feel very hungry. I have been eating things such as soup, mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, applesauce, and homemade fruit and vegetable smoothies. I also now soak the trays in a dish that is made up of a white vinegar and water solution for about 5-7 minutes and it COMPLETELY REMOVES ALL THE SMELL, followed by a quick rinse under some water and then brush with toothpaste and rinse off again. Then put them back on. Something I have noticed today though is although it still hurts to remove the trays I am finding they snap back in much faster, making progress.....
