Same day implant placement is a very common way to replace missing teeth so long that your surgeon feels confident about the primary retention.  If your surgeon can get a good amount of remaining bone to place the implant and graft around it, the success rate of same day implant placement is very high.

What you see, looks like to be the membrane that your surgeon placed over your bone to protect it from coming out of the grafted site.  Just keep it clean with the antibacterial mouthwash and let the ara heal.

I recommend you to see your dentist ASAP.  It seems to me with the picture you submitted that the crown might be savable.  If your dentist find new decays on your tooth however, he may recommend a new crown.

The best option would be orthodontically moving your central incisor and create room for placement of a dental implant in the position of your missing tooth. With orthodontic treatment the entire tooth moves bodily that means the root of your tooth would move as well to create room for your implant. I also do not recommend extraction of a canine.  It is better to keep your canine.

When your dentist prepares your tooth for the crown or veneer, if  he removes just enough of your tooth structure to make a crown, then your crown should not be bulky at all.
